Good morning everyone. I'm trying to recruit players for an Atari 2600 League I'd like to start up. The basic idea is as follows:

Teams would be made up of 5 players.
Each week during the season, 5 games would be chosen at random.
Each week, teams would be paired off against each other.
Each player would play 1 game.
No players on the same team may play the same game.
The player scoring higher at his/her game than the player on the other team playing the same game would score 1 point for their team.
The team with the most points would win the match.
After the season, a playoff between the teams with the best win-loss record would determine the champion.

I look forward to hearing what all of you think.

It would be cool except for that it would have to be games that all the players owned, unless emulators were used, which would mean that people could cheat and use save-states.

Chris

EDIT: I will totally do it if you get this going...

Nope, no prizes, just pride. Well, as much pride as can be associated with an Atari 2600 league. This isn't exactly going to score any chicks for anyone.

Your timing is excellent. I am in "game playing mode".

If this can be done via emulator I'm in

if not I'm out... I have very little in the way of 2600 gear.

Cool idea! Count me in! I'm in Austin, TX so put me on Team Texas unless there are enough of us in Texas to make a Team Austin. I'm in regardless of emulation or realthing.

Yes, emulators will be allowed. I'll try to have a website set up sometime this weekend and post the address here.

As for teams, I was thinking of making, say, the first six people interested team captains and then having a draft of the remaining players.

I'm interested, it seems to be fun. Unfortunately I can use only emulators but it's better than nothing, eh? :D

Here's the website. It has a little more information and I'll add to it as we go.
