Wow. I didn't know you're autistic.
I saw it in the theaters, too. Opening weekend.
I remember getting a special promotional issue of "Nintendo Power" at the theater. It was about a quarter the size of a normal one. Anyone still have one of these things? Of all the issues of NP, it should be one of the more valuable ones, no?

I saw it the other day for the first time at I was confused because Mario 3 was a new realease and the kid knew where all the secrets were and the girl in the audience knew what the flute did. And i missed the begining so i didn't really know what was going on besides he needed to play video games.

I had the opportunity about 7-8 years ago to buy a used copy on VHS for like $5 and didn't do it. :( Now, that movie is no where to be found around here.

It's on DVD in Europe I think, but it's not titled "The Wizard." It's "Joystick Heroes" I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.

The Wizard on DVD. "Quality is very good, like Laserdisc". Which means it should look better than DVD. ;)

THAT I do have on VHS...great cult movie with fantastic analog special effects. Oddly enough, the first time I saw the short version of "The Wizard of Speed and Time" was at a college movie night in the 80's....it was one of the shorts they ran before the main attraction....WIZARDS. No connection to movie with the non-plural version of the title, but there's some synergy here, all the same.

I'm SO tempted to bid on that, but I'm afraid it's going to be a bootleg....especially since it says it's imported and is all region (typical of bootlegs). To my knowledge there has been no official release of this movie on DVD.

Sadly a bootleg is probably the only way you'll be alle to see it again.

I've bought a few bootlegs like that and they've all been really good quality. My copies of RAD (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091817/), Gleaming the Cube (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097438/) and the entire Dungeons and Dragon's cartoon series are all bootlegs. Oh, and the Star Wars trilogy. All look great (or at least as good as the sources did) and won't wear out.

This movie is great. Didn't see it in the theatre, but watched it everytime it came on TV until I got the VHS a few months back, for a steal of $11.00. If they ever release it on DVD I'll snatch it right up. And with winners like Street Fighter and Super Mario on DVD there is no reason no too.

I too have often wondered about that Nintendo Power isssue that was handed out in theaters. I remember being really pissed I couldn't get one...
I remember when the movie came out, I had this list I made of mistakes in the movie...yeah I was really bored one day back in 7th grade. But seriously, there's so many fuck ups in that movie. Really obvious stuff that anyone should have caught.

The best video game movie ever is Joysticks:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085764/
It's got it all including the standard 80's "shutting down the rec center" plot (except this one happens to be an arcade) and a final video game showdown where two players vie for glory playing a bootleg version of Pac Man using 4-foot talll joysticks! The joysticks are great, they look just like oversized aracde sticks and they had four buttons on the top of them and of course the guys are hitting the buttons like crazy even though they're playing Pac Man!

Here's a synopsis of "The Wizard" for those of you that haven't seen it.
http://www.poprocksandcoke.com/7.php LOL
"The Wizard" is essentially Nintendo's manifesto (of sorts) and it becomes pretty obvious when you watch the movie.

I saw it in theatres, and I still have the NP that was handed out. I also remember getting a small Wizard merchandise book that was rather thick, but I don't know what I did with it.
