Nothing I could do about getting robbed this time. I was cleaning the game room today and noticed it not on my shelf. My sister had a party Sunday while I was at CGE. This sucks so bad. i paid 300 for that thing. :( :(
EDIT- I am speaking of my LE Hanishan Tigers Gamecube

MAS I swear you've got the worst luck. Is there any chance you might know which of your sister's grubby friends ran off with it? Somebody had to know what it was worth to be so selective in their pilfery.
Sorry, man, really. I hope your luck turns. I bet you'll be looking into lockable display cases soon.

What is a Hanishan Tiger anyway?
And that sucks. Maybe you need to think about setting up a padlock for your game room.

I am fixing the lock on my game room door so it actually locks. This sucks so bad. My luck was good for 2 days in cge. Supposivly nobody was in the house. I know it wasnt one of my friends cause they wouldve taken somethign worth more plus none of them have been over in a while.
DARIA- there a japanese baseball team.

DARIA- there a japanese baseball team.
You were keeping a baseball team traped on a shelf in your gameroom? That's impressive. Maybe they just decided to make their escape during the party. You shouldn't leave your pet japanese men on their own for two days like that. They start getting ideas. (:

Damn, man.
Somebody definitely knew what he/she was going for with that grab, though. Out of the numerous Cube games that I'm sure you have, why would somebody know to take that one? It might pay to ask your sister if anybody that might've been at her party has an interest in gaming.
And the Tigers are a Japanese baseball team. They're the Hanshin Tigers, though. Not the Hanishan Tigers.
How did a baseball team get its own game? Was there one made for the Yomiuri Giants, too?

Somehow I think they probably stole it thinking it was *just* a gamecube.
If it only plays Japanese GC games, I think the odds of finding it are better than if it plays US games as well. It may just show up in a Pawn or used game shop.
Let the police know. If it shows up in a Pawn, it'll be returned to you.

Well it could be depressing but, I feel the same way, we don't think any of our friends would steal from us, but if we did, we think we know what our high dollar value stuff is. Seriously dude if this really happened, then your sister needs to cough up the dough, or file a police report or something man, a 300 dollar item is cause for it either way. either that or I would be selling some sister's goods on ebay fast lol.

You should ALWAYS file a police report when something is stolen.
if your insured you will be able to get some of the funds back ($300 is almost a deductable thoug.) and you can give them a list of people who could have taken it. That list has to be really small.
I'd also call the parents of everyone of those kids and tell them what was stolen from you. chances are a parent would have seen this.. It's not "Generic black cube"

Isn't this incident the inspiration for the presence of that weird statue of the fat man outside the burger restaurant in Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast)? I spent hours trying to deduce the function of this statue until I got on Gamefaqs and realized the only thing you reallyy could do with it was chuck it into the drink LOL . Ok, this'll piss some of her friends off but you need to file a theft report. The police will ask who was there or if you suspect anyone, let them have all the names of who might do such a thing (Cliff). I had some on break in once and stole 200 + CDs but left other high $ items. I gave them a name and they went to see him. Needless to say he was not happy, but neither was I.
As for this thread turning against you. This makes twice and if you don't do something this time, your time is up I think. Get you damn parents involved, no matter how you think you'll look. Most of the people you know now will either move, change over the years and grow out of your friendship, God forbid die or turn into assholes. The time is now to turn things around before you get you ass kicked forever. People change and you'll make new friends so screw how they feel (I know that sounds bad, but you're talking big $ for most people your age!). The cops might not be able to find it, but it has to be filed IMO.
P.S. You should have let your Dad go to Cliffs.

Why do most of my threads somehow turn against me. *sigh*
Because you keep posting about stuff and then won't do the logical thing that most people would do, which frustrates people.
"I'm hungry for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich."
[500 responses, ranging from "go make one" to "go buy one" to "eat something else"]
"Oh well I guess I'll just quit eating."
The frustration comes from the fact that your posts seem to be asking for advice (of which you've received both good and bad) but don't seem to follow any of it. If you're not going to do anything about it, then it's not asking for advice, it's whining.
Marty, you should watch The Osbournes and watch Kelly and Jack's "friends" and think ... are those people their friends? Some of them probably are. Some of them are hanging around because they get stuff for free. Are some of your friends like that? I've been there. When I was a kid I was *the* first person to have a computer. I would let people come over and play all the time. But when my dad set up rules about one friend over at a time for computer games, guess what -- those people dropped off the friend list real quick. It was amazing how night and day these people were. When the computer was open for business, I was very popular. When the computer was off, it was pretty lonely around my house for a few years.
These was one kid who was all like, "man I love the Apple II" and then brought like 30 blank disks to school and wanted me to copy all my games. I started copying them and my dad got all pissed off ... not because I was copying them but because I was copying ALL of them, you know? And he was like, these people are just using you ... I didn't want to believe that but he grounded me from the computer for a week. I gave that guy what games I had copied and he got all mad that I didn't have all of them done. You know what though, the reason I had to call him "one kid" in this story is because I honestly don't remember his name anymore. He came, he went, that was it.
This cycle of course repeated itself over and over. I remember when you could first copy PlayStation games and I was the one with a CD-Burner. Boy did I get a lot of friends than. It's not just with games and stuff ... buy a pickup truck and see how many friends you get whenever they buy something large or it's time to move. Like clockwork.
It sounds to me like both you and your sister may have surrounded yourself with a lot of people that may not be very good friends. People who would steal ANYTHING from you are not a good friend. Anyone who would take $160 from you is not your friend. Anyone who would stand by and let that HAPPEN is not your friend.
The earlier you learn this, the better off you'll be.
My wife thinks I'm crazy about this and most of my friends get offended by this when they find out about it, but when I was younger, whenever someone would come visit my house or apartment for the first time, I would put a $20 somewhere where they would see it but it wouldn't be too obvious before they came over, and then I'd see if they took it. And you know, I had a few take it. And those people never, ever came over to my house again. Really, it's a pretty cheap way to find out if someone is trustworthy or not.
-----
My advice to you, and feel free to take it or leave it, is to call some sort of family meeting. I would get your sister and your parents together. I would tell them that while you were out of town, an expensive, rare piece of your collection disappeared. Then sit back and listen. Maybe the solution will present itself. Maybe your sister is hiding something. Maybe she let people in the house and didn't remember. The thing is, the 'cube didn't just disappear. Someone stole it, and if nothing else your parents have a right to know that a thief has been in their house. Once all the facts are in, then you can make a decision about how you can prevent it from happening NEXT time.
Cmosfm

Actually, what happened is the fans went delirious, hijacked a train, and somebody started yelling out names off the roster - somebody who looked like each player would jump in when the name was called out. Since nobody really looked like Randy Bass (beard/goatee + sideburns) they chucked in a statue (yes, a STATUE, not a standee!) of Colonel Sanders!

Everything Flack just said is exactly perfectly right on in every way. Why did you post in here about losing the $160 bucks if not to ask for advice? And speaking personally, it frustrates me that you did absolutely nothing about it. So when you now come back with this new theft, I have a hard time feeling too sorry for you because you didn't do anything about the last problem, and that's hard to say because you seem like a really cool kid. Learn to stand up for yourself. That doesn't mean getting into fights or doing some of the stupid crap that people have suggested, but you don't have to stoop to someone else's level in order to not take people's shit.
The second part of Flacks post was just as right on. You have all kinds of friends when you have something to offer. I'll bet there are people that try to buddy up to Flack on account of his arcade. Shit if I lived in the same area as Flack, I'd probably try to sweet talk my way in there too. It's human nature, but that doesn;t mean you have to put up with it.
I liked Flack's idea with the $20 bill, except that I would use a $5 bill, for two reasons. First of all, I think that someone would be much more likely to take a five, thinking that it would be less missed. Second, I'd rather it only cost me $5 rather than $20 to find out that some guy was a pig-eyed sack of shit (5 points to the first person who knows what movie that is from).

Here's an idea, Marty. I'll be in New York in a couple weeks - send me to rough up your friend Cliff a little bit. I've got the Irish Boston family, so we're used to roughing up New York Italians.

And that friends, believe it or not, was the inspiration for the hamburger shop standee in Sonic Adventure. Furthermore, that's why you were warned not to place him in the river, and if you placed him into the ocean ouside the hotel, the standee drifted off and sank into the water.

You're right. I never look at the member photos, but you're right
On a side note WHEN THE HELL DID YASHIRO SHAVE?
LIKE 2 YEARS AGO LOL
It's been a while since I rocked the Bill Walton. That pic has been up since like January...you really don't look at the member photos, heh.

Here's an idea, Marty. I'll be in New York in a couple weeks - send me to rough up your friend Cliff a little bit. I've got the Irish Boston family, so we're used to roughing up New York Italians.
That last part was a joke...sorta.
Aside from that, just file a police report, give that Cliff kid a talking to, and get a solid lock on the game room door.
we know why kevin is going to new york... did you see that pic of his sister? wow. who's the friend?

Somehow I think they probably stole it thinking it was *just* a gamecube.
If it only plays Japanese GC games, I think the odds of finding it are better than if it plays US games as well. It may just show up in a Pawn or used game shop.
Let the police know. If it shows up in a Pawn, it'll be returned to you.
Strangley enough, I've experienced almost exactly what you describe - a friend of mine had an import NTSC cube stolen shortly after the PAL version was launched - off-hand, I said "You might want to check Smokey Joe's [a rather shady second-hand shop in town]".
Sure enough, it was sitting in their window and easily identified by the JP/US switch my friend had installed. As you say, it was probably dumped there after the theives couldn't get it to boot any PAL games.

Wow I wouldn't have even known that was altered if I didn't have context... it's amazing what you can pull off if the other people don't have reason to look closely.
LOL
