I think only seven or so VCSp models have been made and each is unique. Ben Heckendorn makes 'em.

I could be way off on my numbers - may be more than seven of them floating around. I've only ever seen one of them up close.

Do you have a link for that?

Also, can I borrow that shovel when you're finished with it? :D

Ben was at CGE showing these off in 2003. He has a book coming out (search Amazon) this winter on how to make your own portable VCS, NES, SNES or PSX, though the engineering isn't for beginners. Seemed like a nice guy when I met him.

Yeah, I've never heard off or seen that unit either.

It looks VERY nice, though. :eek 2:

Does he still make them? How much?

If I remember correctly one was auctioned off at CGE 2k3. I got to use one of them and I remember it being heavy but small so there was a LOT of thought into the design considering it was small yet made from the parts of a 2600 Jr. and a portable TV.

I hadn't seen these before either, pretty groovy, eh? Does anyone else make these sorts of things, at all? Or is it just this crazy bloke??

Yup, and Ben has made portable handheld SNES and Playstations too! Here are some links on DP where we've discussed 'em in the past:
Making old school systems portable? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24524&highlight=vcsp)
December EGM...DP,CGE,&VCSp (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21280&highlight=vcsp)
Was there ever a compact version of the Atari 2600? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18692&highlight=vcsp)
Anybody purchase an Atari VCSp? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1033&highlight=vcsp)

And, with that, I'll lock up this topic. YOu can discuss the system in one of the other threads already in progress.
