Many gamers were outraged when Valve was hacked and their source code stolen which delayed the release of Half Life 2 for practically forever.

Now, Gabe Newell's (the head of Valve Software) used a dumbass password that a 3rd grader could guess on the HL Forums and some idiot posted that the game was going gold on Monday.

How stupid can these people be? How can people who are so obviously inept with computers still manage to create wondeful games?

well, that was a dumb move on his part, especially when he should have known that people would try to guess the password to a site like that....

Wow those miserable bastards! How dare they let someone steal their coding and hack into their accounts! Christ, I can't stand it when people act like it's a personal attack on them when a company DARES to say "Hey, our game isn't quite finished yet, so we're going to hold on to it for little while longer while we polish it up." Grow up people. Seriously.

personallly, i prefer a developer to post pone a game, helps gets bugs out, and hopefully not make it a suck fest like daikatana

on the flip side, daikatana was 5 years in the making or so

I wasn't suggesting that it's right to hack into their accounts. However, it would make sense that they should follow better security than use my first name and last initial.

It's analagous to Joe using the password "DigitalPress" for this website?

Daikatana? How about Duke Nuk'em Forever?!? I think that is slated for release in 2010.

This reminds me of the scene in "Spaceballs" where the bad guys find out the code to planet Druidia was 12345.

Has this Gabe fellow spent much time on the internet?

[King Roland has given in to Dark Helmet's threats, and is telling him the combination to the "air shield"]
Roland : One.
Dark Helmet : One.
Colonel Sandurz : One.
Roland : Two.
Dark Helmet : Two.
Colonel Sandurz : Two.
Roland : Three.
Dark Helmet : Three.
Colonel Sandurz : Three.
Roland : Four.
Dark Helmet : Four.
Colonel Sandurz : Four.
Roland : Five.
Dark Helmet : Five.
Colonel Sandurz : Five.
Dark Helmet : So the combination is one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

LOL

SegaAges: I was being sarcastic on that release date for Duke Nuk'em Forever. It seems like that game has been in development forever.

Boy! It's no wonder HL2 is so delayed. With this kind of mindset Valve should be a mess... LOL

Yeah, somebody here missed all the times Valve lied and made honest reporters look bad to cover their ass. Somebody wasn't around when we found out that the idiots at Valve had development machines open to the internet. Somebody apparently didn't notice that Gabe's password was GABEN. The game might be good, but that dev team's reputation has taken a beating, and deserves more.

That said, I thought this was funny, and I don't feel vindictive towards Valve for being stupid. Just amused.
