Hey all, I'm travelling to Pittsburgh, PA for the weekend and I'm looking for some fun things to do.
Are there any independent game stores in the area?
How about arcades? (besides Dave & Busters)
Are there movie theaters in the area (preferably one still showing Napolean Dynomite)?
And finally, thrift stores?
thanks!

If you like bad selection and high prices there are a few places in the city. A decent place is a chain called "The exchange" that deals in games, music, and movies. Thats a hit or miss though. Sometimes you strike gold and sometimes its crap. There's another place I cant remember the name of. My brother calls it "Homo Joe's" because it's run by some fat abnoxious guy named Joe who thinks that a Copy of Pitfall with a bad label is worth $65. You'll know it if you find it. Pittsburghs game scene is rather weak. Sorry.

I have to agree. As far of video games, Pittsburgh really didn't seem like the best place in the world. I could be wrong, I only spent three days there myself.
If I may make a suggestion of cool places to go other than video game places...
Lots of museums...Carnegie Science Center, Natural History, Warhol Museum...
Also, since I know you take pictures...you'll want to head across the river, and up the big hill just south of town (can't remember that town name right now)...killer shots of town...especially at night
good stuff there.
And Eide's Entertainment - A three floor CD / DVD / Comic Book store... :rocker:
There were a couple of Half Price Book Stores, but I'll be damned if I could find them.
Oh yeah, one more thing...get a map now, and study the way to the places you want to go...that town is a royal PITA to get around, especially if your heading East during rush hour...tunnel + traffic = 2 hour wait to go 5 miles @_@
