I am trying to find the Japanese version of Tecmo Bowl that was released in 1990. As far as i know it's the exact same verison of the "original Tecmo Bowl" that was released over here in the states, but the japanese version has major roster changes and some players have different attributes(such as Bo Jackson being even more faster and power!)

Now from what I've read online, NES systems in Japan, or more specifically the cartridges are shaped with a different size, so that creates a problem. I have heard about pirated games from over seas that play on the U.S. NES as well, so that would work too. I must find this blasted game so I can play it.

Im really in the dark here on this one, but some help or info would be great, no matter how small the amount of info is.

thanks

Brad

True, Famicom games are an entirely different shape than NES games. You'd need an adaptor to play them on your NES. I had a Honeybee adaptor for years, and it worked great.

As far as tracking down the game, you may want to try some of the import stores I have listed here (http://www.geocities.com/opcfg/importstores.html). It's a long shot, but one of them may have it.

well there is a rom of it online, which i believe was only for 1 player games. but we want it for the 2 player mode.....1 player is no fun, but 2 player is the most fun a guy could ever have.

i can try ebay and then email everyone that has it, cause there is a distinct marking for it on the japanese cart......anyways, im just puttin out the feelers to see if theres anyone here in the know that can clarify things for me.

thanks for the reply tho, i apreciate it

I've never seen this one at an import store...sports titles don't import well. Try emailing somebody at one of those stores to see if they can get it (if indeed all the stores are dry). For making the effort I commend you!

i been sending out emails searching for it.
i found a famicom version of it on ebay and emailed the seller, asking if it has a date on the cartridge, but it looks like it could be the arcade style version from like 1987........so the search continues.

the worst part is that its dang hard to find any info on this game...its like it never exsisted, even tho i know it did. so i dont know if it has the same cover as the US version or anything.

hopefully something comes up

OK, i just got an email from the guy from ebay, and he says that its dated 1990, which is the year im looking for, so now i need the lowdown on the famicom system. will it work with US outlets and TV's or do i need to buy some adapters or anything?

or better yet, i just re-read the post above and a guy said i could use a honeybee or something brand adapter to play famicom on games on my NES!?! can someone tell me more about this?

sorry to be a pain in the a$$, but i never heard about famicom until like a week ago.

I don't think you will find the adapters on eBay. I had an auction for a regular Famicom game and I simply mentioned that it would work on an American NES system with an adapter and those bastards cancelled the auction.

Anyways, I did a little research for you:

http://www.retrogames.co.uk/stock/html/nintendo_hardware.html

I've never purchased from any of these places, so don't blame adaml if you get screwed. I have heard of both lik-sang and retrogames, but I don't remember if it was negative or positive. I'm sure some of the weather-beaten vets on this board could give you some firsthand accounts of their dealings with these companies.

lik-sang is a trustworthy store. Can't comment on the others, though.

Too bad in that auction the seller won't ship internationally. Get a famiclone or just a 60-72 pin adapter (aka NES-famicom adapter).

The Good news is that the title should be dirt cheap... I was able to buy both Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl boxed for about 600 yen in Japan. I would say that a cart adapter is probably your best bet, as AV Famicoms can be pricy and old Famicoms have TV/electric compatibility issues I believe

I've never seen a Yahoo Japan auction that said it shipped internationally.....until you read further into the auction (in the seller's notes....in Japanese). Either way, try this:

www.rinkya.com

They will bid for you on Yahoo Japan auctions. You eventually pay 2-3 times what you would have for the item, but for many people looking for very hard to find items, it is quite worth it. I've found many things through rinkya that would have taken me 10 years (and has) to find elsewhere...including ebay. Seriously...yahoo japan and rinkya is the only way for us gaijins to get stuff we want sometimes...

Indeed. Go with them, not Celga. Celga ripped me off.
