I recently started collecting sealed ps1 games after completing my sealed gameboy collection.

So I am wondering, does anyone else collect sealed games for any systems? care to share your collection(s)?

mine are:

Gameboy: Mario Land, Mario Land 2, Kirby's Dreamland, Kirby's Dreamland 2, Zelda Links Awakeining ( not DX),Final Fantasy Legend 1-3, Final Fantasy Adventure, Metroid 2, and Ninja Gaiden.

Ps1: Vanguard Bandits, Alundra, Pocket Fighter, Metal Slug X, DDR Konamix.

If i can find them cheap anuff sure. I kept a few games from the circuit city deal sealed, as well as a few random "cheap" finds here and there. Though i would never pay full price for a game to just leave it sealed.

I'll buy a sealed game, but I won't pay more for it. And once I have it, it gets opened, immediately. I refuse to have sealed games in my collection. If a game hasn't been enjoyed, I don't want it. I'm the same with toys and comics. A sealed game represents fun that hasn't been. It's sad to me, and refuse to be a part of it.

I'm also very wary of sealed games. How do you know what's inside?

I don't overpay just to have a sealed game but I do have a few that I've gotten really cheap.

I have bought some sealed games and I'm keeping them that way. For most, I have duplicates or they're on a media that demagnetizes over time (FDS there).

So no, I don't get sappy about it. I like to have something to show for my money now and then, and silly rationalizations be damned. I will say that it's a rare game that I'll buy sealed on purpose, though.

If I find them cheap enough...

Depends on what it is..
Some stuff I have sealed stays sealed...

Well, I used to open every game that I got, but now I only open games when I'm going to play them.

Here's one. I bought Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (looks like the wrong title to have done this with, by the way - HoD would've been a better bet) sealed, because I played it on an e mule ator within days after its release. I wanted to be able to support the franchise, even if it meant sending money to the devi...er, Igarashi.

I don't go out of my way to buy Snes sealed games, but i have about 30 or 40.. Here's a few to whet your appetite. Street Fighter II, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, Super bomberman party Pac (Big box), Super Gameboy adaptor etc, etc.. About half of the 30 or 40 are sports titles.

No I open every game I get unless it's for the purpose of trade bait then i'll keep it sealed.

Sealed games are perfect for brag... exposition purposes. :D
They are the jewels of the crown. Unfortunately I have only one US 32x game for now, but more is on the way.

(but I wouldn't pay money for a rare/ultrarare sealed from an unknow guy on the street/ebay. it's not much safe... :hmm: )

I got a sealed Final Fantasy II for Wonderswan Color for 24 bucks. Just having a wonderswan color emulator and the FF2 english rom is enough.

I don't really collect sealed games per se, but I do try to get as many sealed NES/SNES games as possible. :-P

I was hoping no one gets this started (it creates the urge of getting me into another complete sealed collection), but I have a near complete sealed US Dreamcast collection, I'm 6 games away from complete, it stands at 242 now. 10 of those have crack(s) on case or resealed very well with perfect jewel cases, those were actually in even better shape than most sealed games. One way to identify factory seal, of course, the folded seal rather than shrinkwrap, but certain Acclaim/Midway titles use heat shrinkwrap later on with a particular style so I don't mind a few like this in my collection.

Normally, I do not overpay for those games and I minimize getting them online, given the current economy and sorry state of market of games on Sega's older systems, you can find pretty much all games, even sealed at bargain prices now. Main reason to get games at stores even though they may be more expensive? You can inspect conditions of the games and cherry pick the absolutely the best one, recently, one of the last DC games I picked earlier was Shadowman at TRU (beforepromotion went on), I paid $30, it's nuts if you ask an average gamer but it was the ONLY copy in folded seal without crack on case, I had to have it! You don't know how many SOB lying sellers there're on eBay I have come across, certain titles missed out at retail floors, I had to go through 2-3 copies before getting the mint one, folded seal, no crack on case, it can be pain on the @$$. Sellers may say they're flawless when I ask, but when I get the games they're trashed with huge crack across the jewel case as if someone sat on it.

I've started venturing into Gamecube recently and I've sworn not even to complete the collection, let alone sealed, but since I don't have the system and I already have 40 games sealed (can't play now due to my busy schedule), it's just so tempting to keep all sealed, but given there're so many rare junk and/or multi-system titles, I figure this would never happen.

I got Dreamcast started in 2000 when my store started clearing out DC games, serious, many rare titles today for $12 or under, had I not have the chance with my local store(s) and/or if EA supported Dreamcast, I'd never have complete DC collection, maybe EA's absense is a good thing for Dreamcast collectors.

Sealed collections can be meaningless for cartridge-based games as they're much more durable, in fact, some snap-lock cases, shrinkwrap can cause the cases to wrap when store in extreme temperatures. Plus all games use heat shrinkwrap that can be bought privately cheap.

I bought Red Alarm for VB sealed, cheap, and I opened it.

I still have a ton of sealed games from recent sales, plus a sealed Brave Fencer Musashi I just picked up today for $30 at GR.

I used to, but it got to be a bit out of control. There's a decent demand for sealed premium games in Japan. I had a respectable collection at one point, but wound up selling them. For the right game, a sealed version can get 5 to 10 times the opened value (Tengai Makyou II comes to mind). If it's a standard game, maybe only a few bucks. For something like Radiant Silverung... Taromaru? Forget about -- slap another $100 on to the already high price.

I dont collect sealed games. I dont understand why people do. I buy a game to play it and if it happens to be sealed then lucky me because I got a brand new one instead of a used one. Why buy a game if you cant enjoy playing it because you dont want to open it? Doesnt make sense to me. X_x

Ya know what really gets me off? Pealing the protective plastic clear sticker off of things. Like LCD's. There's an elevator I just noticed the other day that still has the clear plastic thing over the LCD in the right upper corner that I'm DYING to peel off, it's probly been there for 20 years.

Atari Jr.s still have these on the "rainbow" a lot, and I LOVE peeling them off.

I also forgot to mentioned, as well as sealed games i have boxed copies as well, thats the only reason i keep the sealed copies.... Well sealed! I play first collect second, although lately, i have been doing more collecting than playing which gets me ticked off since i don't always have the time to play. :(

I dont go out of my way searching for sealed stuff , yet I do own around 8 NES sealed games. Along with 6 or 7 psx games.

But I paid dirt cheap for them. ;)
