i am just curious as to where everybody else shops for good prices on next gen games. i personally am in love with blockbuster. it is the cheapest place in town, and they always have deals on games like buy 1 get 1 50% off. eBay is alright, but usually when i am trying to get a next gen game, just like most all of my games, I love to window shop, and unless i am looking to buy up more than 1 game in an auction, i would rather go to bb.

Usually Game Crazy. I save 10% on the used stock with my MVP account and for new games, well I just wait awhile for someone to trade in. However I do buy from 6 to 12 brand spankin' new titles per year, usually around the holidays and I don't really bother shopping around for the best deals unless it's been posted on cheapassgamer.com. I just buy them from the stores that I feel are worthy of my hard earned dollars, usually Game Crazy or Game Stop and never ever Walmart.
I don't mind paying full retail to a speciality store like game Crazy because they provide a unique and valuable service that a Walmart or Target can't match.

I shop around quite abit and there is no ONE place for all your new game needs. I do a fair share of EB Games, Gamestop/Funco Walmart, Circuit City, Best Buy, Frys Electronics and indy shops (when applicable) to get my current stuff.
Only on occasion do I go for the games from eBay and even then its usually the harder to get stuff because I dont want to deal with the hastle of trying to hunt down the rare game.

Ebay or best buy. I work at best buy so I always save a little money and will usually snag games when they hit 20$ or they go on greatest hits, I'll grab an original if we still have some left and buy it for $20. ;D

Go to gamecrazy, after working there for about 5 months i found something worth while. we have the mvp club (19.99 a year, and 14.99 to renew ) it gets you 10% of all trade ins, and used games..no biggy BUT we started something new...now every monday thru thursday we have NEW game specials, certain new games will be marked down, some not so good and some rediculous, like last week the new namco game was marked down 15 bucks, so it was 34.99, that game new isnt even that much...or fallout brotherhood of steel 29.99 was 19.99 there are some damn good deals!

I almost always go to GameStop.

I go to the mom & pop stores for brand new games. Let's face it, everyone's going to be about the same price for a new game, so I like to support the little guy when possible.
Plus, my favorite place discounts most new games $5 release week :)

I'm with Scooter. If I absolutely have to have something new at regular price, I'd much rather give my money to the independents. Other than that, I'm always more than willing to bend Blockbuster over and make them squeal like a pig when they open themselves up for it (see: trade 2, get 1 for $9.99 deal).

Mostly my local EB, since I often pre-order stuff and they treat me very well.

Blockbuster does have cheap used games, but they don't come in the real boxes (so you can't trade them in to other places like GameStop) and they don't have manuals.

Your GameStop doesn't take loose disks? That's odd. They're suppose to as long as the game isn't badly damaged.

Here's another one for CheapAssGamer.
I buy most of my stuff pre-owned, as long as it's complete and the discs are in good condition.
I usually buy at Game Crazy and CD/Game Exchange for next-gen stuff. EB, Best Buy, and Target can be okay too. I tend not to buy from Gamestop unless they are having a buy 2 get 1 free sale.

Pretty much nowhere. I mostly get all my new stuff from private sellers on forums.

I usually pick them up after they have dropped in price. Even the Nintendo Gamecube titles will drop to under $20 after a couple of months. Sometimes it is a lot sooner depending how much unsold inventory is in the warehouse. A lot of places will offer the same instore deals online, So keep checking cheapassgamer, etc. for the deals.

I am not trying to defend bb, it is just 2 block away from my house (joint distance). so I can smoke a joint, buy some games, and off to some great fun. many of the games do have manuals, you just have to be a good shopper there. Most GC games at my bb have gc cases.
to check for a manual:
simply give the case a little squeeze. If you hear the plastic from the case hiting the plastic on the other side of the case, no manual. If you hear little to no sound, manual.
to check for gc cases:
this is easy, if the outside clear plastic feels very smooth, it is a gc case.
i am not defending, just helping others that go there.
it is rare that i buy a game new unless i want it really, REALLY, bad. i always buy used

I buy new only if the price is cheaper than buying a used copy, which has happened a few times - for example, I picked up Activision Anthology for PS2 for $9.99 at Fred Meyer when most stores wanted $10-15 used.

You don't even have to test for the manuals at the one I go to. There are two nice gals behind the counter that have, on two occasions (Chronicles of Riddick and Transformers), grabbed manuals out of the rental copies and given them to me with my purchase. I didn't even really ask them to do that. I asked if the games had their manuals and upon seeing they didn't, they grabbed them for me, one with a long line behind me and her the only cashier. Now THAT's customer service!
Also, here's a trick for those of you trading games in:
I've got a small stockpile of blank (although sticker-ridden) dvd cases thanks to AOL. Almost every time I take a game in to trade in (which was often during BB's recent trade-in deal), I'd take out the guts from the original case and slip it into the former-AOL case. Viola! Lots of official cases for me at home, in case I end up coming home with a game in the manual-cramping Blockbuster-brand cases, which then, in turn, get recycled again. Problem solved.

Yeah. After Christmas day www.cheapassgamer.com will be over-flowing with $20 games that used to be $50.

Where do I go for new games? I go to Hastings! Trade in any 4 games for any new one. Buy low, sell high!
Just look at all the great games I've gotten recently (new) for $15 - $20 dollars:
Madden 2005, Madden 2005: Collectors Edition, Tales of Symphonia, Bujengai, Sudeki, Custom Robo, Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Karaoke Revolution, Karaoke Revolution v2, Ghosthunter, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, Crimson Sea 2, .Hack Part 4, Ninja Gaiden, Crimson Tears, Spiderman 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Driv3r, Front Mission 4, NCAA Football 2005, RPG Maker II, Monster Rancher 4 and others I'm sure I'm not thinking of.
Going back this weekend for Astro Boy, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and Phantom Brave via this method too.
Hooray Hastings! :D
