Boy, do they not mix.
This Gauntlet cabinet I just picked up had no coin door locks. When I started down the road, all four coin doors were flapping in the breeze. Fortunately for me, I came armed with duct tape! I quickly pulled over, and taped all four doors closed.
When I got home and peeled off the tape ... ZOIKS! Black paint came off with it. Yup, next to each coin door I now have big spots where there is no tape. That sucks!
Anyway ... I'm guessing masking tape would have worked better? Who would have thunk it?

That machine needs some work anyway. ;) If you can find vinyl side art you should just repaint the whole cab with a new coat of black and throw some side art on it. Would look nice.

...u plan on trying to replace the art??

Oh yeah, I'm going to restore this one for sure, the thing is the side art I've found is $125 which seems steep for a game I paid $300 for.

probably the best thing would be to keep looking for something cheaper, but you could use all those quarters to save up for it....just think...500 quarters and then you'll have new side art

I've done exactly that a dozen times... secured unlocked coin doors/rear doors with duct tape for moving. I've never had a single problem getting the tape off without leaving damage.

Have you ever considered that maybe the black paint is hidding something??
This cab might have been repainted with something better hidding under the black paint! There's a whole thread over at arcadecontrols talking about using stuff from 3M to remove black painted cabs and restore them back to their former glory.

It's not likely that a 4 player cab from Atari is hiding much under the Gauntlet paint. It's probably a Gauntlet.
