Well, the wife and kids are around, and I didn't want to explain what was on my screen, and why I was doing it, so this was the compromise :)

so how does this happen? did he steal a link to your website or something and you just switched the jpg/image?
naughty naughty! Although with kids looking at this on ebay, I can't advocate such images.

Yeah, when someone uses a pic from your site and links the pic to their site (or links it to their auction), all you have to do to get back at them is put a different pic up with the same name, and voila! The replacement pic shows up on the PicturePirate's site.

Took eleven replies for someone to ask this? :)
I just searched videogame porn or something similar on google images. Figured I might as well make it game related.

How did you know he was stealing the image ?
I have always wondered this :hmm:

You know that reminds me of the time someone tried selling the Seiken Densetsu 3 IPS translation online and didn't even steal the images to use on his own server, he just direct-linked to the ones on the official site, fortunately those that know what happened know he wound up getting bit in the ass the same way. (though not nearly as X-rated LOL)
So remember kids, image linking is bad, mmmkay? :P

What you need to do now is follow up and report this guy to ebay for putting pornagraphic images in his auction listings.

That is so sweet man, by the way I reported them, not for stealing images, but for having Porn on the page when its not a mature only page.

I'm sure some of the "no-life" eBay police have already done so. There are entire eBay community forums devoted to people who have nothing better to do all day than scour ebay for TOS violations and report them.. trust me.

Someone E-mailed me - and to that person, Thank you :)
That, and my website useage to ebay.uk suddenly went up about a week ago, and I didn't know where it was coming from.

Nice one. Although I notice that he has now stolen a new pic from goldenshop.com.hk
In fact, all his images seem to be linked from lik-sang, goldenshop or, occasionally, other sites.
Would be good if we could arrange a co-ordinated switching of all his images! Doubt it's possible though. But perhaps a quick email to each webmaster with an attached image and saying "please switch your image at x time" ...
That would be fun, to see his auctions suddenly switch completely, hehehe!

You know what would be really funny? I just thought of this.
For the replaced picture, just make up some crazy stuff (like a story) and write it in the same font so it totally looks like part of his auction. I'm guessing plain ol' Times New Roman would fit right in. So the graphic would blend in and look like text from his auction.
[Auction Text]
[Graphical Text] "Note to buyers -- I often stalk my buyers. Don't be surprised when I show up at your house to check up on the hardware. I'm not kidding. I'm psycho. Oh, and shipping is $200."

Actually, I did report them to goldenshop.hk but they're not the brightest bulb on the import tree.
I got a reply saying "what can we do to stop this person from doing this?" Just sounded like some guy who's never used a computer before. I gave them a link and helped them out, but I doubt they'll do anything about it.

How do you know that someone is stealing a pic or a link?
And what CAN you do to stop them from doing it?

If they are linking directly to your site, you can use a software that tracks the sites, etc. that are taking up the most of your bandwidth. Or just rely on people to point out these instances for you. (some webhosts provide it for their customers)
You can then replace these images with naughty ones (as Sylent has done) or with really anything you like (I tend to use an image that will point the viewer right back to my site to see the original images)
If they are taking images from your site, you can use a script that does not allow for right clicks, so then they have to go through the hassle of screen captures, etc. I wanted to do this for vidgame.net but for some reason, it disabled the search function. :hmm:

Right-click disablers don't work. I just have to view source, dig up the actual image name, and I'm in business. All they do is ignore people who have legit uses for the right-click context menu.

wow, i feel slow now.
when i first looked at the pic, i thought it was displaying the sonic x gba videos. i thought maybe he didn't want people stealing his pics, so he put that up, until i looked at the pic closer. it took me like 2 mins to realize it was a sonic porn pic because he stole a pic from you
