I picked up the Metroid bundle last week, and I'd like to know which games are top notch, and the ones I should stay the hell away from.

I don't like sports titles, but I do buy things like wrestling, snowboarding, etc. I've also picked up the Game Boy Player, so any help with GB/GBC/GBA titles would also be appreciated!

Thanks! :D

Don't get a progressive scan TV or a composite cable... 'cuz you've got a redesigned GameCube that doesn't have the right port for it. Shame that.

At least Zelda WW looks fine with S-Video.

-ikaruga if you like shooters, and only $20...or at least was.
-zelda ww (dispite it's flaws, still one of the best games this generation)
-f-zero if you can stand the pain of getting your ass handed to you.
-rogue leader (should be able to get real cheap), didn't care for the sequel too much.
-viewtiful joe (tho i still have yet to finish it)
-mario kart (everyone loves this, don't care for it really tho, a definite choice to consider tho.)

gba:
metroid zero mission (i loooved this game, much more than i liked prime, that's just me tho)

I'm a bit surprised nobody's mentioned Pikmin yet. Shame, shame. A must-own.

Stay away from Batman Dark Tormorrow, Batman Rise Of Sin Tzu, BMX XXX, and obviously, that Mary Kate and Ashley game. LOL

No one has mentioned Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2? YIKES. My list of MUST HAVES for GCN:

Mario Kart DD
Super Smash Bros. Melee
SMB 1 and 2
Wario Ware (if you don't have gba version)
Animal Crossing
Eternal Darkness
Ikaruga

GCN
-Metroid Prime
-Wario Ware (either GCN or GBA)
-Ikaruga
-any of the Zelda bonus disks, if you can find 'em
-Super Smash Bros Melee
-Pac Man VS (in the Pac Man World 2 bundle)
-Beyond Good & Evil (if you don't already have it for something else)
-Viewtiful Joe

there are other good ones, but those are the top ones. There are possibly others like Tales of Symphonia and Four Swords that I haven't played because I am cheap. There's an interesting-looking one coming out that's about some psionic guy - can't remember what it's called...

GBA:
-Advance Wars 1 & 2
-both Metroid games
-Pokemon
-either River City Ransom or Double Dragon
-They're not GBA, but the Zelda: Oracle duo is excellent
-all of the Castlevania games (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow) - I know a place you can buy Harmony of Dissonance brand new for $35, pm me if you want it (it's becoming rare)

Stay away from:
-crappy licensed games and anything by 3DO or Acclaim.

Not everything by Acclaim is bad - here's two GC releases I enjoyed:

Zoocube - Fun puzzler that can be bought on the cheap.

Burnout 2 - If you don't already own it for another system, check it out. One of the best racing games I've ever played (on a side note, I'm a little upset that EA isn't bringing Burnout 3 to the 'Cube).

Maybe I'll throw in a few that nobody else has:

Gamecube:

Def Jam Vendetta: Feels better than the PS2 version (to me anyway), and plays almost exactly like the very lovely N64 wrestling titles (No Mercy, WCW/nWo Revenge, etc.)

Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest: A bizarre little game, but it's pretty fun. Slow paced though, which turns some people off.

Wave Race: Blue Storm: It's a blast, and it's awful cheap now. Got a somewhat steep learning curve though - the vehicles are tough to get used to. I like it a lot however.

Beyond Good and Evil: Great game on whatever system you can pick it up for. Cheap also.

Soul Calibur 2: see Beyond Good and Evil. Add the fact that it has the better exclusive character of the three versions, and you know which one to pick up.

Gameboy Advance:

Advance Wars/Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising: Love these games, they are a blast. Good luck finding the first one though.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Another great game.

Check 'em out on gamespot.com as far as reviews go. Those are some of the ones I really enjoy however.

We're talking about Gamecube. Ok, you can play Klax on a GC via Midway Arcade Treasures, but that wasn't published by Acclaim.

Unless you live overpaying for things, I'd avoid Phantasy Star Online Ep 1&2, PSO 1&2 pplus is coming in a few weeks for $30, which is even less than you can get the regular one for used right now.

I'm going to lock this one before it gets too busy.

The GameCube "must haves" conversation is a classic, timeless one - let's keep adding to it!
