I was browsing the used section at my local EB the other day and was floored when I saw a copy of G1 Jockey for sale. I'm not talking about G1 Jockey 3 here, I mean the original G1 Jockey.
I'm big on horse racing games and I didn't even know that this game existed in NTSC format. When I got home, I tried to find some info about it online but I couldn't find anything about a NTSC release of G1.
I'm starting to think maybe the copy I saw was a PAL version, but that doesn't make any sense since EB doesn't sell imports. Still, I can't find any mention of a NTSC G1 anywhere. Does anyone what the story is on this game?

As far as I know for US released horse race games for the PS2 there are only 3.
G1 Jockey 3
Gallop Racers 2001
Gallop Racers 2003
Gallop Racers 2004 (will be out in Oct)
So this is either PAL or them using a replicated cover possibly? Go back and get it, whats the worst that can happen, it not playing and you returning it.

Actually, it's in stores RIGHT NOW. Matter of fact, our Gamestop SOLD OUT of it yesterday. Granted, we only got a few copies, but it was shit-hot for some reason.
PapaStu is right on that, no NTSC release for the original G1.

Yeah, I figured it was a PAL but wasn't positive. I gotta go back their today to pick up my Gallop Racer 2004, so I'll see what the story is.
I know what you mean about Gallop Racer 2004 being hot shit, Oobgarm. The GR series is notorious for having extremely low print-run's. I rarely ever pre-order games, but I had to pre-order this one 'cause I knew it was going to be impossible to find.

If they are like Gamestop, someone probably took it in trade as 3 so that's the price they are selling it as. Stuff like that happens all the time, especially when someone brings a big lot of stuff to trade in and you have to look them up fast.

We had a guy trade in both previous Gallop Racer titles for the new one. Looks like I'll be able to snag a 2001 without a problem.
@Chunky: Your sig is wonderful.

Yeah, I pre-ordered Gallop Racer 2004 and got it today at my local EB. Have'nt played it much, but I'm allready hearing from one friend it's not as good as GR 2003.
For that matter, I can't figure out how to win a race! My horse starts at a fine, normal pace, and then for some reason speeds up on his own and I can't get him to slow down, making me lose the race cause he runs out of energy. Damn it, this is the first race on Easy!
And yeah, I was surprised to see the store had a few extra copies of the game. Not many, but not what I was expecting.
Koei advertised released a Winning Post game for a US release, but it does'nt even have a release date.
I also bought a good PC horse racing game, Final Stretch.

Maybe up north, but down here I've only found GR2001 and that was like two weeks ago. :(

Ok Joe, I have that game and so far I have played it 10 minutes. Tell me why so many people rave about this game. Is it because I play alone? is there something I am missing?

Click the picture above for the review which answers this question. I love the game because it's essentially arcade-style horseracing, keeps track of past performances, you can control one of the horses (which makes the multi-player game fun both for racing and betting), and it's got that retrogaming feel, all rolled into one.
