this is the only reason why i even want a cab is for the sega stv board and line of games.

how much do you think it would cost me to get a cab, stv board, and the games i want for this.

steep slope sliders arcade version! WHAT.

there are a bunch of good games in the stv series. i just happened to find out that my all time fav saturn game has an arcade counterpart.

so how much would it cost me to get it all setup, and also where should i start looking to buy stuff from to get this cab setup

ST-V is JAMMA, so you can basically pick up any JAMMA cabinet with a horizontal screen and be good to go. I got my ST-V motherboard for $50 - sometimes they go for more, other times less. They're actually pretty common, so just check out eBay or other arcade sites online. The games can be less common, but through the same means you should be able to locate whatever you need.

I know very little about ST-V, but I do know that there are both US and JAP versions of the board, and that the carts are not compatible or interchangable. Some games are available in only one region or the other.

What! How did I not know about this? That has just gotten onto my list of things to get (eventually).

EDIT: Oh my... there is a Radiant Silvergun cart.

i don't know much about jamma or cabs for that matter (i was hoping to get the stv as my 1st). how do i know if a cab is jamma or not?

If it has a JAMMA harness in it. If it's a working cab, you can go to www.klov.com and it will tell you if the game is JAMMA. Many, many games from the mid 80's through the mid 90's were JAMMA. If you see a game with no more than one joystick and 3 buttons per player, it's a good bet.

so if i got a jamma cab, what is the deal with boards?

are they interchangable pretty much like any cart system or what?

if i have 2 jamma boards and 1 jamma cab, can i just interchange them, or do i need to do something special for them?

I think it's just a physical lockout (two tabs) on the board. That should work for most games. Anyways, get the JAP board or one with dual-bios. Japanese carts/boards are more readily available, atleast on eBay and when playing Radiant Silvergun on a US board, the gameplay uses only two buttons (one gun has been omitted)!

And yeah, I bought the US board. :sob: :frustrated:

I paid $40 for mine. I think you could do a region mod on the board. It's definately JAMMA.The board plays fine on my Supergun. Its pretty much a Saturn without the CD-ROM drive. ST-V has some very good games if you can afford them. Radiant Silvergun, Cotton 2 , Cotton Boomerang, Terra Diver, Die Hard Arcade, Astra Superstars and Groove on Fight just to name a few.

this system has steep slope sliders. my fav saturn game and possibly fav game for any system. i have to own the original the way it was meant to be played (ask the people helping me make a 2600 rom into a cart how many times i have said that line). but holy hell, steep slope sliders. i could have that cart in a cab and be completely satisfied with just that.

Is there any truth the the idea that ST-V carts work in saturns? I highly doubt they do but hey...that'd be damn cool if they did.

where would be a good source for stv games. i can get a jamma cab from my local game shop for around 100-200 depending on what game it is. the only reason why i want this is because i want to own the arcade version of steep slope sliders bad, and ebay doesn't have any auctions for it up.

also, is there a difference between a stv and a stv titan?

is there anywhere else besides eBay where I can look to try and find a board and the game I want?

I just throw either the US or Japanese Motherboard into one of my (stereo) Neo Geo MVS cabs and play the games.
It works great..

Some games have a region lock/some games will work on both regions.
Also..Some games are made in US or Japanese but are basically the same game..(sometimes they have slight differences in them.

I collect ST-V games for both regions..No matter if it's the same game...and the Print Carts.

For example.
Radiant Silvergun will work on a US ST-V motherboard..
But the game is MUCH better playing it on a Japanese ST-V motherboard...(More to it)..Though my Radiant Silvergun copy is a US copy.
I'm not sure if they made a Japanese version (?)

Radiant Silvergun..is a MUST buy..(Paid $89.00 Ebay)

Sometimes the dip setting on the motherboard have to be changed to get a game to work..
Though the game will be detected it will not load up until the dip settings are changed..AND it doesn't tell you what needs to be changed unless you have a dip sheet..or experience.

Big Head Boxing will detect in a two player cab but will not load up until you set the dips to a 1 player only/credit ..Because it's only a 1 player game...It's linkable for 2 players though it hasn't been figured out by anyone I've talked to yet.

If you click on the games name it'll tell you info on it/region

I used to buy and sell these motherboards ..and games.
I do get them from time to time but I don't get the deals I did before so it is a waste...I only buy the games now that I don't have for my collection.

Does your cart label have blue or red borders? I've been in the knowledge that there was never a US version, only the JAP.
But your definitely right about the US board being a big sucko in this case.

Ooops..I Wrote it wrong.....(Thanks. ;)

It should read ..
Though my Radiant Silvergun copy is a Japanese copy.

Yea,When I started playing it on a US board..It Sucked..
Then I tried it on a Japanese board it ROCKED..
I think one reason is because the Japanese Bios lets you use 3 buttons/more weapons and the US Bios only two..(yes?)(.Better explanation needed.)
It's been awhile since I've played it.

Yea..like it says here..
