I've been in a trade for INTV stuff with a guy here, that you all know well, for about a month. We agreed on the price and the items and that should have been that.

Now he PM's me a few days later saying it will be a bit as he needs boxes.. fair enough.. Then a week later he tells me he's Ebayed one of the games  ok.. so one less game, It will cost $10 to replace that title so I'll deduct that from the trade no biggie. But this guy still doesn't have any boxes for shipping. Well now it's over three weeks later and he PM's me today with this crap...

actually I'm thinking I'm just going to break it up into two lots, and put them up on ebay. I've got lots of car expenses coming up, and I really need to milk my shit for what it's worth. These sorts of things sell well this time of the year.

Honestly, I could have traded with someone else or sniped some good INTV in that time. I can get a better deal elsewhere next year anyway.. I'm threw ranting now.. O.o

I hate hearing stories like this. I don't know if I want to know who it was or not. I don't like people changing up deals just so they can make a little bit of extra money. That's NOT the honor among collectors that we so highly promote.

Yeah, that is a load of crap. I really never liked the idea of people making cash on games. And ebay just complicates the situation sometimes. Don't get me wrong, ebay is not a bad thing and I have been able to get some great games I loved in my childhood at reasonable prices, but sometimes things get way out of hand. I actually went to a game store awhile back and they used ebay to get the price on a game I wanted to buy there. They had a laptop connected to the net and the game wasn't priced, so they just hit ebay and attempted to sell it to me for what the high going rate was. What a joke. Anyway, keep at trading...there are alot of good people here that don't go by this garbage.

I'm sure I speak for most everyone here when I say:

What.

A.

Dick.

Actually, I'd like to know who this meatwad is, just so I can make a complete point of shunning him/her.

yeah this behavior blows! I've had a few trades that fell apart over at AtariAge exactly like you described. I guess once a deal is struck some people just don't have the same honor code.

I've been lucky here at DP, I've bought and traded about 6 times so far without a hitch. And I with you zektor, I'm not looking to make money so I'm quick with my trades, if I have extras and you have what I need I'm not going to haggle over a few dollars.

Actually I'm the guy, and Raedon has a few of his facts mixed up. >:(

The reason I'm not selling to him is because he's trying to talk me down off the price I've already set. I don't like people trying to low ball me. I set my prices by what I view is fair, most of the time, below average ebay prices. And generally always lower than DP guide prices.

Our last trade was over $400 less than current DP guide prices. :o

And he was informed that that game had been sold...weeks ago. And now he wants to renegotiate?

It has been about a month, I know I'm sorry for the inconvenience Raedon. I work and go to school both full time, or approximately 80 hours a week, plus driving time, plus studying, plus have a pretty busy life when I do have free time. Things just get put off sometimes. Such is life.

One game was sold out of 40+ boxed. It was on ebay BEFORE we ever agreed to any trade. We were still trying to work it out when the auction closed. I had told him I could cancel the bids and sell to him, but forgot about it. He wants me to nock off $10 when I'm selling him my games for $1 a piece. One game out of a lot of over 40 all complete in the box with systems and accessories, isn't going to make a difference in the overall price to me. He apparently just wants to get a little bit better deal, but I don't care for people trying to cut down my prices when I think I've set a more than fair price to begin with.

I sent him that last PM in response to his Re-negotiate PM, which ticked me off. I figured telling him I'd rather sell it on ebay would tick him off too. Guess I succeeded.

What are you talking about? You EBAYED part of the trade and I'm sertainly not paying the same price for less stuff no matter what you think kid. There are no facts mixed up here..

Anyone who wants all the PM's on this are more then welcome to see them, what I speak is true.

It was $100 plus shipping. But I'm kind of busy with other things right now, so I've been unable to mess with finding boxes and weighing this so I know how much it'll cost. I'm going to try and work on it in the next couple days and I'll let you know something then.
Oh and Happy Trails is gone btw. I never got back around to cancel the bid and it's been sold.

Well Why would i pay $100 without that game when it was $100 with the game.

So what do you all think now after hearing both sides of the story???

For a fair value, video games only, I will mediate if you wish.

Heh, Well what a dilema, but seriously if you had a set deal on something and then you go and ebay part of the deal then the deal is altered and something should be done to compensate for the loss.
Im not sure what the game you ebayed goes for but if it's a major money title game then yes you should deduct some of the price of the deal. I would look at it like this If I bought a PC engine lot of games for 500.00 and Dracula X was included then somehow the seller sells it and still wants 500.00 for the lot with out dracula X , I cetainly would not pay that I would want to knock off 125.00 off that lot of games.

Thanks

Holy cats!

Will one of you please detail the trade for me? I can't believe we'd ever be THAT high. Our prices are notoriously LOW!

It was the colecovision lot. Those pictures I showed you a while back. It's a nice lot for sure but I paid exactly what you would pay on ebay for such. Usually when you buy in bulk you buy to save money.
No one in their right mind would spend $600 for 50 or so coleco commons, uncommons, and almost rares and a system. And some have called me crazy for spending $200.00, but I feel it was worth it as it's like half the coleco collection.

Life is what you make it. If your life is too busy to complete sales and trades, then don't make them in the first damn place. Lame excuse.

I agree with Atari 7800. If you are too busy , than don't offer the trade.

And if you are offering something for trade here, certainly don't put it up on ebay at the same time. Make a decision which way you will go with it and stick by that.

Raedon - did you send any money ?

If not , than just let it go, its water under the bridge at this point.

Better luck on your future trades

No money was sent.. I started this post just to vent the steam and move along.. I really didn't think it would go into all this.

But he had enough time to sell stuff on Ebay, so I'm not understanding why the deal with Raedon would have gotten in the way. If anything it was easier to deal with Raedon than mess with the hassles of payments and contacting the winning bidders.

One last post, and then I'm through with this.

I had auctions running BEFORE I ever posted here. I even said that two games were listed on ebay at that time, and that they may NOT be available for sale. I said that I COULD cancel the bids and end the auction early, but didn't promise anything. I simply didn't get back in time the night the auctions ended, and one of the games was sold.

At this time, there was no deal set in stone so to speak, between Raedon and myself. He was still trying to jive me down and I had other interested parties. This wasn't his yet!

I told him on the 3rd of this month that one game had been sold and what the price was without shipping. Two weeks go by and then last night he says he wants to renegotiate. He had messaged me a couple times between then and now, never having said anything more about the price.

Now he's saying he's not going to pay the same thing, seeing as one $10 game had been sold, yet I was selling him the game for $1 NOT $10 Hell it didn't even bring $5 on ebay! I realize if I sold a rare, or expensive game and it unbalanced the trade/deal in some way, then yes renegotiations should ensue, but not for one lousy $1 game. Again, there was no guarantee he would even receive this game. AS this was still a trade in the works. He should have been a little more assertive, in trying to seal the deal and agree on the price, and not trying to talk me down.

But since I wasn't even sure if he was going to get it, I wasn't about to end my auction until the last possible second, but it still didn't happen, so this game was no longer part of the trade. Raedon knew this game had been sold, and said nothing until last night. $1 is pretty insignificant IMO, and does not warrant renegotiating. He was getting a fair deal. Last night's pm was just Raedon's plea to work a little better deal, and I am simply not in the mood to renegotiate with him.

My ebay auctions were going on last month mainly, when I posted what I was selling here, and had a little more time. The reason I hadn't responded with a shipping total, was because I didn't have anything large enough to hold all these games and the systems in, and when I did, I was going to have to make a trip to the post office to weigh it. I told him last week that I finally found some boxes. But yesterday afternoon, was actually the first time in awhile that I could have actually done it.

My lifestyle IS hectic, but the internet, including all the buying/selling/trading, is and will always come second to me. That's just the way it is, sorry people. I think some of you here are overreacting. He contacted me. And wanted to buy my collection. Even if it took me 3 months to pack all my stuff and have it weighed, that's just the way it is. I never accepted any money for anything before hand, and the only thing he's out of in this deal...is time.
