The last time I was over in England one of Mayhem's friends had a laptop set up with a ton of emulators including Daphe. He had fully working copies of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace (and I could've sworn he had DL 2 but it might have been the beer). I asked him where he got the movies since I missed out on the newsgroup laserdisc flood a few months back, and he said he ripped the movies from the Dragon's Lair anniversary boxed set. Not too terribly long before that one of England's PS2 magazines had a bonus disc which included a full version of Dragon's Lair on DVD which Mayhem bought for me. I tried using my DVD movie ripping program to see if I could get anything off of it, but I saw a ton of smaller movies instead of the usual one big one.

Has anyone managed to rip Dragon's Lair from the DVD and use it in Daphe? If so, what software did you use to rip it and how did you go about it?

If this kinda borders illegality then go ahead and lock it, but I'd much rather play the game on my PC instead of my DVD player/PS2 because the controls in Daphne were a HELL of a lot more responsive. :)

I will check into it. It makes sense that on the DVD there would be a ton of smaller files -- I'm guessing each scene is it's own title/track?

I have the Daphne version around here somewhere, if you just want that PM me.

I'd have to check again from home, but I'm pretty sure the DAPHNE version from the flod is also a bunch of small files, which makes sense with the way it would have to jump to death scenes etc. Some of the games just use one huge file as well, it just depends on the game.

I've ripped my 20th anniversary edition myself..

there's 2 tools out there to do the job for you. 1 is specialized for DAPHNE (hence it doesn't do DL2) while the other for DAPHNE-X (to play on XBOX) and hence it does do DL2.

Here's the standard DAPHNE tool:

With the right settings, you can achieve better video quality than you'll ever find on a newsgroup. With my 25" arcade monitor + ArcadeVGA.. DL is so so sweet!

I really should rip my own too, it wold have to look better than these. They're not horrible, but they could definitely be better.
