This room is around 70 degrees at the least. No problems.
Since I live in AZ and my Parents are cheap, the house stays at about 80*f.

Mine are kept in a room that is always below room temp (60-65F). And by the way, you Americans have got to be the last country on the planet that still uses Fahrenheit (and miles). Are guys just stubborn, or do you know something the rest of the world doesn't?

it's not the fahrenheit factor that bothers me so much, but we need to adapt the freakin metric system. it just makes so much more sense.
you can convert mm to cm to m to km so easily
for us it's like 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 5280 to a mile?!? wtf.
anyways, i can't see how anything but room temperature would be best for your games (and low humidity, which isn't too much an option in here in nc)

personally i use the metric system myself
metric is damn good but some people are too foolish to learn new things.

We know that water freezes at 32 F :D
How that helps I have no idea.
At least we drive on the right side of the road. ;)
Seriously, does keeping games at a certain temp actually help? I know to avoid humidity and whatnot but to do a certain temp?

I store them in my basement and they are kept in the room which has its own temp comtrol. They are kept at 63º F. Just perfect, stick an nes game in a nes that would usually make it blink, bam! no blinkage! :hmm: x_x O_O
What kinda question was that?

There's actually two areas in which the old Imperial system seems to make more sense to me - feet and Fahrenheit. Differences of a foot are somewhere between precise and large enough for human-scale measurements, without having to resort to fractions. In the case of Fahrenheit, you also get more precision per degree. Now granted everything else about those scales is completely wrong, but I like those two aspects.
Also, @ Querjek. You only play disc games these days or what? LOL
I'd have to say that ambient temperature isn't quite so important as humidity levels, which you really want to keep low, but not so low that your manuals start crumbling ;)
Basements are (generally speaking) a dangerous place to store games, or most anything else collectable (if it's metal or paper, it doesn't belong in a basement). I've got an arcade machine in my basement - little cocktail Stratovox - plus all the game systems I use now and then, but I'm not about to store lots of game boxes down there. Humidity's pretty well under control but I feel better having it upstairs, where mold is even less likely.

As to why Americans use the traditional systems of measure... well, lets just say that there is a reason why we are the most powerful country.....
Apparently, Jamaica also uses Fahrenheit.

In the UK we use both Miles and KM's.... and we also still use fahrenheit was well as celsius

Only because you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. :P
No problem in Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Russia, Mexico, China. :D
The U.S. didnt sign up for the Metric Club but we signed up for the "Drive on the same side of the road as 95% of the world" club.
Whatever scale people use to tell the temp..one thing is the same
Damn cold is damn cold.

A've always wondered why the only ones here in the US that have adopted to the metric system seem to be the soda companies. Soda comes in 2 litre bottles instead of quart bottles. How come not milk bottles or beer bottles or orange juice? Only soda :o

My room is kept to hot in my opinion. I am getting a fan to put in there but what kind of effects does heat have?
I don't believe it makes my labels peel......

Yes. Yes we do know something. Damned if we'll tell you though.
Actually, America uses both systems frequently (like Canada...we're a bit of a mixed bag...America moreso). Our tools come in metric and ASE. Our liquids come in gallons and liters. Our odometers include km/h and m/ph (not that our road signs are ever in k/ph, maybe near the border, but AMericans do drive to Canada frequently). Our drugs come in mg and such (depending on your drug dealer! HAH!). Our scientific community (as shown by the crashed Mars lander) uses miles and kilometers (though primarily metric). Our measuring cups for cooking often come both ways. The nutrition facts on our food products often list both. The list goes on and on.
Perhaps Americans are much smarter and capable of actually using both systems. We're very adaptable.
americans are lazy
Well, at least we brush our teeth. (lazy-ass Brits)
What systems does Mexico use? I thought they were a mixed bag too, but I don't really remember...
