I goto a sale today, very early in the morning that advertized that there were games and such. I get boxed systems, one a TI-99 and an ATARI XE. These two guys arrive, and see me going to the car.. one's like ATARI XE!... I go get the last box, he asks the lady, "You got any more games?" She said no, I asked him why he was interested: THE REPLY

I use old parts to fix pinball machines. I can't tell you how many 2600's I've smashed.

I ask him why he breaks them the reply: I can not buy the chips anymore. Chip dealers got the obsolete ones from upwards of 100$.

Was this guy for real?

He could have been some dealer or something too... I think he might have said pinball machines and arcade machines.. but i cannot remember.

He did get a zelda and a boxed 64 there though which she did not have out the first time going through... and there was one dude who was telling him about some of those x-rated 2600 carts he saw.... so who really knows

I'm about 95% sure that whatever parts this guy was robbing from an Atari 2600 could be had for cheap in bulk from Jameco, MCM or some other electronics supplier. Come back in another 20 years and maybe then some of the 70s era ICs will be hard to find.
