As part of a massive trade deal, I recently picked up this US Classic Golf cocktail from our very own Chadtower...

Not being a golf fan at all, I decided to convert this sucker into the vertical shooter table of deliciousness. This was pretty easy, seeing as the table supports JAMMA. The only real problem was that the control panels were fitted with trackballs and a green golf course pattern. Not so cool for shooters. So, I built a new panel fitted with a joystick and buttons. Have a look:

In fact, have a look at a whole bunch of other pictures. The table is currently home to a Taito Ashura Blaster board and doing very well. The next step is to replace the felt table top and fit a nice glass cover on there. Cocktail tables rock!

Hehehe looks like a much maligned Pac-Man from the shape of the top and the monitor surround. Didn't look at the coin door. Is there any paper inside saying what it originally was?

Regardless good luck with the project. It looks like a fixer-upper but a solid cabinet. Should see some I've worked with that sat in puddles of water and swelled up the bottom half of the machine :(
At least you don't have that to contend with.

If I can help with pieces and parts let me know,
Alan

Sweet. I'd love to own a cocktail but due to lack of space and the fact that they're pretty much unobtainable here, I've had to pass atleast for now.
Good luck with the project, let us know how it goes.

Nice work so far... did you shield the transformer yet?

BTW, it's a Midway cocktail table. No real way to know what was actually in it originally.

Interesting tidbit on that one. Apparently, the interference that you observed was unique to the US Classic Golf board. Every other board that I've put inside the table has experienced no interference at all. *Knocks on wood*

Looks like a good conversion job there!

If I could get an used cocktail unit for cheap, I'd do the same thing. Pizza Hut used to have cocktail units but I believe they sold off the one they had when I was younger. :(
