Today I got a strange "Corrupted Data" icon on my Memory Card, I have no idea where it came from, when I try to delete it, it says "Delete Failed"..How do I get rid of it?

Did it take over an old save or is it something thats completely new to the card?
As far as I know once you format the card, theres no way to wipe it.

Id try starting a game and getting thru a save point or two, turn it off, then turn it back on again and try to load that save spot. If that doesnt work then your card is completely corrupted and its time for a new memory card, and if it does, then move any data that still works off the card, and get a new one. Because once it starts with one of those, its not going to get better.

It didn't take over any important data, it just appeared after deleting an Action Replay save that I did not ask to save

Ahhhhhh well thats all the Action Replays fault. Id still move any real important saves off of the card if you could, and just go on using it. It might even want to delete itself at some later time. Does the AR create a save point on your memory card? Maybe if you dump the opperational save (assuming it has one) then it might take that away or even let you delete the corrupted save.

I tried, it won't accept it. This is the new Action Replay btw, the "Max Evo" with the Pen Drive

I'll just ask in this thread, since it's similar: what causes a single file of memory card data corruption? I had a DDRMAX file that just suddenly became corrupted out of no where, and was forced to delete it. I didn't shut the system off or pull the card while it was saving. Any ideas?

It happens, and especially with a game like DDR Max, that saves every time you hit the main menu after playing a game, every time you leave the Bonus Info section(that says the little blurb about the songs and such) and do anything in some of the other menus as well, its not impossible for a save to get messed up and get corrupted. Whenever you overwrite data that much theres always that chance that something might peeter out. Ive known people who lost FFVII and other games where they save heavily, its just sometimes happens. Just delete it and start over.

Assuming you don't have important files on it, here's a primer on remedying your situation:

1) Remove the memory card from your Playstation 2 and put it in your pocket.

2) Drive (/walk/bike) to your local EB Games

3) Trade it in and get store credit for it

4) Apply credit towards new memory card

This isn't recommended all in one successive phase, as trading-in-one-to-get-another makes yours look shady, which could result in the elusive yet non-extinct "EB Play test" to make sure your card is working properly. Wait a day or two, or just go to a different store.

Well here's mud in your eye then, because I sloved the problem...

I went over to a friend's house today to show him the problem on his PS2...the file finally deleted...

Here's my theory, the SCPH 50001 couldn't delete this corrupted data...yet his original SCPH-30001 did the trick...Compatibility Issues? Whatever it may be, it's really weird..but hey the file is gone!

The memory card is saved and all else is good.
