View Full Version : has anyone heard about Shenmue online?

yesterday when i went to find the silent hill 4 trailer i saw this game on the mainpage.the trailer didnt give much away besides the basic idea.it just looks like people can create characters and put them into the shenmue world and such.it surprised me to see this on the site.i would have thought magic box at least would have had a blurp about it.of course i may have just missed it.does anyone know about this game?

It's coming out in spring 2005 for PC in Korea and China, I haven't heard of a US release.

It better be for more than Xbox if it comes here.
I'm yet to get to play S2 because of that and I refuse to buy Xbox but I might be forced.

Shenmue II is also a Dreamcast game. And the Xbox version is excellent.
It would be really cool if you could visit Bobuita,Yokosuka Harbour and Ryo's house in Shenmue Online.

I just finished Shenume 1 last week and I'm gonna start 2 this week (the xbox version, it's 'apparently' better)
I'm kinda weirded out about shenmue online. I mean, you don't get to be "Dyo" (^_^). How can this be cool at all if it doesnt follow the story of Ryo and his quest to avange his father?
I take that back (halfway at least) it could be cool. but I'm still much more interested in Shenmue III. And if all the man power can go into creating an online version, then why the hell have we not heard some rumblings about the chapter number III?? I'm going to playt II regardless of if III is created or not... I understand that online gaming in Chinia and Korea is F*ing HUGE and making cash will happen for sure as far as this product is concerned. I just want to make sure that Yu uses some of that cash to get his team's ass in gear for III.
Anyone know how involved Yu is with the online game? Did he simply sell the lisence for a one time use?
Hmm would player vs player be like playing Virtua Fighter online?
Or could you go to the arcade and play two player hang on?
Ahh the posibilities.
