I've heard of this cart and it is unbelievably rare. Apparently Mr. Boston was some kind of business, I want to say a bar but I'm not sure, and released this cart to promote his business. If I remember correctly the game is an exact copy of clean sweep. Whether or not this cart is legitimite or is a pirate I'm not sure, as I'm not sure what the label looked like. I would assume it is real until proven otherwise though.

From my compulsive research since getting my vectrex..Mr Boston was a liquor chain, and they had the 'pac-man' doo-dad replaced by thier logo, A top hat...Other than that I know very little

I've had a bottle of mr. boston's peppermint schnapps before, I think my wife bought it at a sam's club. So I can confirm them as a liquor company

$599.99 BIN for this cart is a pretty good deal (if it's authentic). The last time I saw one on Ebay was 4 or 5 years ago. It ended up selling for a little over $2000.
My friend has a Mr. Boston drink mixing book. Didn't know they actually made liquor too.

$400 reserve met 9 hours into the auction? I have a feeling that BIN is going to be looking very good, very soon..

I would just like to add to the people whod ont know much about the game.
- it was a liquor chain who made this game as a promo
- The game is teh same as Clean Sweep with a special title screen
- It is unbeliavably rare
- I wish I was Wberdan so I had the high bid right now. :P

Hey All,
I am a Vectrex collector and own some rare games such as the Limited Edition Protector (w/ overlay & Spike Goes Down)etc but this 'Mr. Boston' is probably the rarest Vec game of them all. Maybe apart from Pitcher's Duel (AKA Batter Up) Mr. Boston is the rarest game. It's much rarer then Minestorm II of course.
Chris Romero is one guy who owns Mr. Boston, that is I thought he was the only guy who had another Mr. Boston. Another one has shown up, unless this is Chris's cart he is auctioning.
Pitcher's Duel has been lost since the early to mid 80's, there are rumours it has surfaced and will be released some time soon for all. As the name says it's a Baseball game. But what are we Vectrex freaks waiting for, let's get out there and buy the new Geofury game I, CYBORG.
Regards,
Nubian.

I hate to chime in on this one, especially since it's an auction I wouldn't have bid on in the first place, but why not?
The way in which this was won probably wasn't intentional, but it definitely seems like a pretty dirty tactic. Any interested buyers who would've immediately gone for the Buy It Now basically got locked out until the auction proper would have ended. While they sat back at waited for the auction to run its course so they could have a chance to bid, the Buy It Now was essentially reinstated for one person only. Doesn't seem entirely fair, but I guess at least the seller got what he wanted and that's what counts.

true, but my intention wasnt quite to use this as a tactic-
i simply made a bid when i was drinking last night, and then woke up and rethought it.
bad idea? yeah probably- i should have just bought it last night anyway.
for what its worth, you could only use paypal on the bin, and it had to be verified before the auction was pulled.

I wouldn't call it a dirty tactic for a couple of reasons. The use of word tactic implies intention, and it doesn't sound like there was any here. But more importantly, if it was a tactic it would normally be a pretty poor one - wb was lucky it worked out OK for him. Consider that all it would have taken was another bidder bidding say 405 and wb would have been unable to use the BIN himself, because not only his bid, but also another would have had to have been cancelled in order to reinstate the bin.
It isn't really a stratagem when you can't even count on it to work, you know?

Hey All,
Alcohol does that to you. Some nights when I have had a few beers I bid on items that I rethink about bidding about when Iv'e got a hangover.

See where I say: "The way in which this was won probably wasn't intentional,..". In that, I'm already giving the benefit of the doubt. The rest is just speculation and general sympathy for the folks who wanted to use the BIN but couldn't. Nothing more.

I agree with ClubNinja... bidding when drunk isn't exactly entering in the wrong bid amount, which is what he put as his reason. Technically he violated Ebay's TOS.

Willy is dirty and probably tactic as well (sik), but he was probably just being an idiot. If he had more sense, he probably would have just done the BIN first. He was probably sniffing glue AND drunk, if I know Willy. And I know Willy

actually, i think it might fly on ebay- since i can tell them i DID enter the wrong bid amount, which is what i did. and i placed another bid right after i retracted that one, per ebay rules.
who cares.

I don't know if it still does, but it at least used to spell out the difference between bidder's remorse and entering the wrong amount... yours was bidder's remorse. Entering the wrong bid amount would have been if you had accidentally entered in $4500 or something.

I was referring to the slang term for penis, as in dick or Willy. If I was talking about you, I would have referred to you as Willie, yes. Confusion reigns.
