Lots of common 2600 games, but several that are less than common. I had never seen a double sided cart before, it's pretty cool. Most of the carts had instructions too. Plus, add in an old pong, a six switch 2600, a small atari, and a boxed 7800, makes for a pretty good day.

I went to a large thrift yesterday that I'd never been to. They had games, but nothing I needed, especially at their outrageous prices.
For example:
Mario/duck hunt: $8.99?!?!
Genny Sports games: $7.99
So I got nothing. Why do I always feel like I never find anything good? Oh well. I'll just go huggle my $4 Turbografx.... :D

I was headed to Wally Mart about 9:00 am this morning to pick up some shampo when I saw one of those very large group fund raising yard sales. If I had known about it I would have gotten an earlier start. In the area with the electronics I first spoted a 2600 JR and then notices a large box with 2600 Carts under a back table. Someone had already bought them, dam! The early bird gets the Atari Stuff.
A little more looking and I spot another box with carts that turns out to be Color Computer carts and books. On further searching it appears that a COCO lover has donated all of there stuff to the sale. I just wanted the carts but the guy manning the area wanted to sell it all, so for $28.00 I got two large boxed with the following:
24 COCO Carts 8 of which I did not already have.
3 Color Computer II's
1 Color Computer III
1 Color Computer Multi Pak (Allows 4 carts in the computer at a time)
1 duel disk drive
About 100 Disk with games and other software. A lot of them are Rainbow Mag Disk.
All the manuals for the carts and software
About 15 Books about COCO programming
What am I going to do with 4 more COCO's? I think they only go for about $5 on ebay.

Your friend's offering you a Telstar Arcade? Tip-top!
When I started collecting a little over a year ago, I earmarked a handful of systems as "must haves." The Telstar Arcade is the only one I haven't tracked down yet.
What's the rarity guide rate it? Something like $75, right? Add to that whatever the 4 games are worth and you've got yerself a pretty valuable find, tho I'd never pay that much for it.
I have never seen it anywhere other than eBay. And personally I've never bidded anything over $35 on one. Seeing as I've never won, I guess we can assume it's certainly worth more than $35. On average they end up selling for around $50-$60. They also seem to be becoming a bit more rare. A year ago I could usually find at least one on eBay at any given time. These days only 2 or 3 pop up per month.
So is your friend giving it or selling it to you? Let us know what you get it for! I don't know how fun it is to play, but it's certainly a cool lookin' sucker, ain't it?
Oh, and Clay? $6?!!! :eek 2: Niiiiice! :P

Goemon 4 for Super Famicom. My first Goemon game for SNES/SFC actually. My boyfriend's been kind of obsessed with it lately. He loves the music, and as soon as he tried out the ROM, he was addicted. o_O Frickin' AWESOME graphics, man. Yet another gorgeous (in every way, not just graphics) late Super Famicom title. This is what gaming is all about for me. :)

Technically this is a weekend find since I found it on Labor Day, but since the weekend find thread only goes through the 4th, I'm putting it here. :P
Browsing through the swap meet on Saturday I found that one of my favorite vendors had a big box overflowing with Atari stuff. This inlcluded:
-An Atari 400 computer and 7 games. Since I don't collect for the computers, I wasn't too interested.
-An Atari 5200 including 5 games. But since I already have a 5200 (3 of them, actually) and of the 5 games Dig Dug was the only one I didn't have, this wasn't too intriguing either.
-Three 2600 games which I already had.
-A Sears Heavy Sixer.
Now, I have been hoping to run across a heavy sixer for awhile, and while I would prefer to find the original Atari sixer, I still found this to be mildly exciting. However, at an asking price of $75, it was just too much. Even if I held on to Dig Dug and the Sixer, and sold the rest, it wasn't worth it to me. So I politely passed.
Now comes Monday. The swap meet is as empty as I have ever seen it, but my buddy was still there with his box of Atari stuff. As I walked by he told me that I could take the whole box home for $30 (he even offered to throw in a couple of Genesis for free, but I had too many of those at home already.) This deal I could not pass up. I figured I could sell the 400 and the 5200 for $15 a piece and end up with my heavy sixer and Dig Dug for free. Woo-woo!
After lugging the box home (geez, that was a heavy box) I started going through and cleaning everything up. Knowing roughly squat about the 400 computer, I did a wee bit of research on the games that came with it. Six of them were run of the mill commons such as Donkey Kong and Space Raiders. However, when I looked up the seventh game, InHome's Baseball, much to my dropped jaw's surprise it was an R7! Just like that, this silly little sports cart for a system I did not collect for had become my first legitimate rare find and my single most valuable game.
Now the debate begins, shall I add the Atari computers into my collecting habits? Or should I turn it out to recoup some of the money I've spent on this hobby? Either way, it was a fun to finally find some rare and I got a heavy sixer out of it to boot!

Atarimania lists it as R9 actually:
http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?menu=XL&SYSTEM=8&JEUX_ID=&VERSION_ID=514&Page=1&ADV=0&OK=OK&SOFT_LIB=baseball&SFAMILLE_ID=0&btn_sauver.x=6&btn_sauver.y=8&TRI=SOFT_LIB&SENS=ASC
Nice find!
Personally I love the Atari 8-bit computers. I just got carts of Lode runner, Midnight Magic, Robotron, and Pengo and they are excellent! My advice is keep the computer. If you want to recoup your $30 you could sure do it with the baseball game.

Saw some boxed NES games and a boxed 32x at an used CD store but I passed on both. The boxed 32x is only $15 but since I no longer collect Sega, I don't see the reason to buy it.
If anyone thinks I made a mistake in passing it up, let me know. I'd likely buy it for re-sale only.

Went thrift store hunting today. At the first one, the way to donate stuff is by putting it outside against this wall. When I asked if they had any electronics or games, the lady told me that all that stuff got stolen before it made it onto the shelves x_x
At the second thrift, I found a complete boxed genesis sports title (Madden 96) mixed in with boxes of 8-track tapes. Got it for about 2.50. When I asked if they had any more games, this one guy said that they have a whole box full in the back room with the electronics, he just hadn't unpacked them yet X_x I don't know what kind they are. He said he was leaving in just a few minutes, but I could come back and he'd try to have them out by the weekend. I'll be back there.
At the third thrift, I found 1 loose Genny cart, some Tommy Lasorda Baseball. Meh, I got it because I didn't have it and it was for 53 cents :P
Then I hit up the only gamestop in my area because its a tad far away from me and I've never been before. Someone all ready cleaned out all the good NES games, and most of the Genesis ones and even a lot of the DC. There were lots of SNES carts though. My brother wanted to buy some there and I agreed to buy seperately so we could get the best deal with the mixed prices. Here's what we ended up with:
DC House of the Dead 2---$10
SNES Animaniacs---$9
Genesis Animaniacs---Free
SNES Power Rangers the Movie---$15
SNES Shaq Fu---$2
Genesis---Lotus Turbo Challenge---Free
^ I have no idea what that game is, but I've never heard of it and there was only one of it there. Plus, I needed a thrid game for the buy 2 get 1 free sale.
Also, I needed another DC controller so I picked up a used one for $5.

Also found an old JC Penney 4" reflecting telescope for only $10. It was covered with dust, but complete and once cleaned up, like new...gonna try it out tonight!

Well.. technically this was a weekend find but it sure as hell seemed like a weekday find today. Over the weekend I snagged a huge box of atari XE carts. I've never seen more than 5 in one place but I found like 50 of em. It was mostly commons with a handful of r4's, one chess r 5', and one no label r6, forget the title, anyhow, I was tad disspointed considering 50 Atari XE carts in one lot sure seems like a rarity. I bought the lot along with an assload of miscellaneous controllers all thrown into one box. I started emptying out the box today and one more game popped up, it was captain beeble an r6 in mint condition! Wohoo..hehe

Yaaaayyyy!!! It wasn't priced and when I asked the guy how much it was he said I was a bastard for finding it and it wasn't for sale ;D. He priced it for 6 bucks and I picked it up. Really looking foward to playing this one.

Now, problem. There are rental stickers on the cd's, but the guy said they can be removed with some rubbing alcohol or something. Some stickers on manuals. *EDIT: I need some advice to remove the stickers from the manuals, and the discs. The stickers on the discs are near the center.* but this is the part that really pissed me off, they fucking cut like, the DC manuals (except HoTD2). They are complete, but, the cover is cut from the rest of the manual. Nice cut mind you, but, what the fuck were they thinking. Now, this is where you guys come in, help me get some mint manuals for the DC games and the Ace Combat 3, that would be awesome. :D
Also, should I consider the DC games CIB?

Being a beggining collector, I decided to pick up a certain group of NES commons: all the games compatible with the Zapper. So, I found a list and headed over to EBGames, one of the only places around with a good NES cart selection (although a bit overpriced, I'm willing to pay it because I'm just enthusiastic right now :P ) So, I picked up:
To The Earth-loose-$4
The Adventures of Bayou Billy-loose-$4
Hogan's Alley-loose-$6
and because I might be buying a Power Pad that could be sitting in my friend's basement, I bought
Athletic World-loose-$4
I got a 10% discount with my card too, so it was uder $18. Meh.
There were also some boxed SNES/Genesis games there. I couldn't check for manuals because they had this EBGames sticker on them. They said that I could check anyway, but I was running out of time. I'll go back some other time.

He was just messing around with me, I come in there often and look through their other genesis carts because the ones on the shelf stay the same. So all the employees remember me well even though it's about a 45 mile drive there...found that game and a loose action 52 so far ;D.
