Sept 21st is release date, im definitly getting it (xbox version) and my friends from socom and I are starting up a huge clan on the xbox version, so if any of you are getting this game for xbox and might want a clan let me know!

I already have this preordered, and my clan from Unreal 2 ( Rival Schools (http://rivalschools.fragism.com/gl-bin/forum) ) will be dominating this the same way we did with Unreal 2 on the Xbox. See you there!

damn imps, don't think you can nose around Hoth without some consequences... ;)

I might get it eventually for the PC...might...eventually. Still need to get DOOM III, since that one turned out pretty alright in the end.

I will be getting this for sure. Haven't decided for what system yet ... maybe PC just for the online stuff.

OK who's playing the game?

I'm considering it. I like the idea of 16 simultaneous online in the Star Wars universe on my Xbox... or PS2, which leads me to another question: is either version "better"?

Joe, here's a global set of reviews for the Xbox version (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox/starwarsbattlefront/) (average grade: 82%) and for the PS2 version (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox/starwarsbattlefront/) (average grade: 81%).

I had it pre-ordered but canceled after downloading a "demo"

Battle areas are to small. Esp. if you are in a flying vehicle.

There are no server Admin options to kick/ban lamers.

I was thinking about this but it just doesnt draw men in enough - I really want to get into online console gaming, but none of the games have grabbed me yet - RE Outbreak had a chance, but then I tried it and the play mechanics were very BLAH, didnt like the new control scheme and no real online chat (like microphones and stuff) was a real let down -- still looking for a good onliner - let me know if this game is all that they say it is once you guys really sink your teef into it.

I'll be getting the PC version, as it seems that'll be the best for online play.

btw, frys has this $38.99 all versions.

I picked it up yesterday, and so far I really like it. The single player mode is ok, but gives you a true sense of battle. I did a system link on it...only to find that you can't do split screen multiplayer and link play at the same time!(Which means that 1 Xbox, 1 person, ratio) uhh. I would recommend this game for the Xbox live crew, which I plan to start very soon. Oh yes, and it comes with two free months of Xbox Live. I went to Target to get mine, it was 49.99 with a free $10.00 gift card. I plan to use it for my headset.

I've been playing the hell outta the Xbox version. All in all I love this game, but I certainly have some complaints. One of which is definitely NOT the size of the maps. I've heard people complain that the maps are too small, but I would guess that these are PC-online veterans, as these are probably the biggest maps in any CONSOLE-online shooter yet. Having only been online with the Xbox, I'm awestruck by the size of these battles, it's unlike anything else available online for consoles. It's balls-to-the-wall action, controllable vehicles (all of them!), epic battles, and it's freaking Star Wars people. There's alot here to love.

But ... the lack of a lobby makes it difficult to set up balanced games where you can be on the same side as your friends. And it's impossible for the host to boot players himself or to even change maps/conditions during play. Basically Rainbow Six 3 has spoiled me and I'm use to the total control that game allows the host to exert over the game conditions. Additionally, Battlefront is a damn bandwidth hog. You've got 75% of the idiots hosting making rooms too large for their uplink. I've got a pretty fast Comcast broadband connection, but the upload is moderate and I can only host 7 people reliably. Please folks; check your upload speed and only host the recommended number of players. This game will die a quick death with the lag issues we're seeing right now.

Despite these flaws, it's my new favorite Live game, particularly as I learn to adapt to the lack of a lobby and find sensible hosts with fast connections. Hopefully after a week or so the online community will realize Battlefront's limitations and how to work around them.

I'm hearing lag is the biggest killer but I think petewhitley hit it on the head: people are overtaxing their connection. Seeing as how this game can allow one to jump into a Star Wars epic battle I might give this one a look.

Dangit, SBC, where's my free Xbox Live kit?

Def get the xbox version! Less lag ( I heard ps2 version was basicaly unplayable 1st day), 12v12 humans instead of 8v8 on ps2, Better graphics, easier to join games w/ friends in them.

I think the game is good, besides the fact that vehicles are TOTALY unbalanced (but fun as hell to kill people in, pilot+vehicle=ownage!)

Fun game...when you get it Joe let us know, whats your Xbox gamertag?

To all DP members who play this game on Xbox Live, add me to your friends list, gamertag is "Kaiju Devil".

I play this a ton and it's a great game that's tons of fun once you figure out how things work (cripping AT-AT's on Hoth, etc.). It's basically a "king of the hill" type game set in the Star Wars universe. This is my #1 game on Xbox Live right now.

My clan from Unreal 2 merged with our biggest rival (after they kicked out smack-talking assholes, of course) to form 7 Rival Schools (odd name, good clan). You can talk at us over at www.7clan.com/community , our new home.

I'm probably gonna get the PC version next week. It supports up to 32 people online and possibly more in the future. Sounds like easily the best of the 3 versions if you have a decent computer.

Well, I played the game at my local EB for about 10 minutes yesterday, waiting on them to check to see if any EB's in the state had a XBox HD AV Pack. I do enjoy it, but I'm not going to rush out and pick it up. Wait for the price to drop. By then I can easily decide if I want the PC or XBox version. I figure it's worth $30. But if you're big into Star Wars and/or Battlefront 1942 (which it VERY closely resembles) then it's a good buy.

id go xbox...just because of the possible downloadable content that you may not be able to get on the PS2

my other question...is this mainly / all multiplayer or does this game have a strong single player showing as well??

There is a single player mode (but still team-based) where you do various battles from the movies... I've heard it's not very good because the bots are dumb as rocks.

According to the back of the package there will be no downloadable content, so that's a non-issue. Either way, I went with the Xbox version based on the merits of using Xbox Live, which is leagues beyond anything on the ps2.

You can blow up Ewoks and Gungans, sending them 30 feet in the air. That alone was worth the price of admission.

I have the PC version, and I'm a big fan. I like how they made the vehicles true to the movies, as opposed to making them easy to use. You can't see a damn thing in the AT-ST, since all you can see out of is the little porthole.

Goes to show Lucas will never work for the military as an engineer.

I just rented the PS2 version last night. I haven't played either of the other two versions so I can't really compare the 3, but I thought the PS2 one was pretty fun. I played the single player for a long time and had a blast. The AI isn't the smartest in the world but turn it up to Expert and they'll some find your ass, guaranteed.

The thing that was a little disappointing is that my son got to level three last night. He's 2. Despire the fact that he just kept running in circles and blowing himself up with his own grenades, the Empire continued winning and he kept advancing levels. I'd like to thing I have a *little* more impact on my team's play than that.

I will probably pick up the PC version, I just find first person shooters very hard to play on consoles.

I picked up the PC version last night. I can say that the graphics are a lot crisper on the PC version -- of course, the trade off is that there's pop up and the backgrounds (sky, namely) are often just black. That's on a p2.6 ghz machine with 128 meg video card and 512 meg of ram. That's one thing I can say about the console version of games -- you never have to upgrade your console to play them!

I beat the Galactic Battles portion in about four to five hours, give or take (single player). I'm guessing the replay value will come in the multi-player modes.

I find good hosts every day. You just gotta be slightly patient. Use optimatch, set a couple of reasonable parameters (I use AUTO AIM OFF and AUTO SELECT TEAMS, and leave everything else at ANY). Wait 20 sec and jump into a game that has mostly green bars. Works flawlessly if you ask me ...

Been playing this a bit on the latest Playstation Underground cd. Alot of fun an dlives up to the hype, controls take some getting used to. Nothing funnier then a Wookiee with a bowcaster taking down and AT-ST!

I have the Xbox version as well, and the game is tons of fun. Very enjoyable online. If you're looking for good connections on Live, I suggest you do optimatch and look for dedicated servers. You usually get decent to good connections. I've had plenty of games with no lag that way.

I do have a couple of complaints though. Some of the vehicles are far too powerful, sniping is out of control, and even worse is the spawn camping. Combine the three, and you end up with a completely miserable experience. Imagine respawning, only to get blown up by a hover-tank that's spawn camping at your spawn point, all before you can literally move or fire off one single shot after you respawn. Not cool.

Despite all that, the game is still immense fun, and the single and multi-player modes are deeply immersive, and there is lots of fun to be had online.

I'd say that in the almost 2 months since your last post in this thread, you've had plenty of time to learn them. They're pretty standard for a FPS, but then again, I'm not one for +1'ing.

IMHO it's among the most balanced games on Xbox Live. I like how powerful the vehicles are, they're crazy-ass Star Wars vehicles (read: they should be powerful). With teamwork they're pretty easy to take down though. Also, despite the "no dlc" thing on the back of the box, there's a new map (Jabba's Palace @_@) in the pipeline. Still my favorite Live game ...
