View Full Version : A game site list

I realize this site is an excellent source of resources, but I've also made a list over quite some span of time that has sites that sell games, or have history/pictures about them. Some of the sites in the list may be dead ( towards the top I have not checked ), and the asterisks you find are how important I thought the site was. My most recent additions do not have these stars, but they are all very worthy of the list. I didn't see this as criteria for any forum other than this, so here it goes
edit: Obliterated the asterisks

I'm going to move this over to the gaming forum; it would be more appropriate (and get more attention!) over there :)

What do single and double asterisks mean?

Anexanhume
09-08-2004, 11:25 PM
Originally, I had placed them in there to serve as a note of how good a site I thought it was. The more it has, the better I considered it. If it's inside the list where asterisks are aorund, and it has no asterisk, that means it barely made the list.

I hope that means you just discovered Digital Press ;)

Well, it's your list, and a highly representative one, as well!

You know, I was amazed how long it eluded me. If I placed a asterisk value on it, it would mess up the formatting of the page LOL

But, I would like to see other members add to the list if they care to do so, and I just added some of the links that digitpress has on the side there, and although trivial for users of the site, it helps my list.

Hey you're missing

www.Atariage.com

and what about the game publishers sites.

here is an excellent one to add:

http://www.dcemulation.com

not only does it give you emulations for dc, but it also gives you links to its sister sites, more importantly, the homebrwe site. this webpage has served me well in the past, and i hope it serves you well.

Some of those links appear to be dead or out of date. :(

You could add www.famiconsumer.com (http://www.famiconsumer.com) to the list! :)

Have you ever checked out Digitpress.com's own FFA links page?

Wow, I didn't expect this kind of response, but I'm not surprised by the chances taken at advertising :D

Haha, I'm talking in terms of content, not pricing or service. I have no idea how they are on that LOL

Yeah, I knew that some of them would be dead. I hadn't checked them in a while, and sometimes they don't stay alive very long.

I typically didn't put emulation sites on there because I was looking for places the either sell or have information on the actual consoles and games. Although extremely useful, emulators don't quite fall into that scope for the collector who's looking for information on tangible pieces of plastic and circuitry :D

Mammoth list isn't she?

Alright, I added some sites. If yours isn't on there, it's not because I didn't like it, I probably just thought it didn't have enough content. However, I'm no one to judge any site in the end. If it serves you well, then it's a great site. Thankfully, I have some links to some lists in my list as to avoid listing a lot more sites.

edit: I would really like to get some sites with more amiga cd 32 and fm towns marty content if anyone knows any good sites.

Eh? You mean the IGN/GameSpy deal? That affected all of GameSpy, not just ClassicGaming.

Anyway, ClassicGaming.com still hosts a lot of sites (including mine (http://www.classicgaming.com/o2home/)). Many of them are simply fantastic. The Castlevania Dungeion, The Mushroom Kingdom (all about Mario), Metroid Database, Black Moon Project, Japanese Gaming, Pages of Now and Forever... they got lotsa good ones! For the full list, hit their sites page (http://www.classicgaming.com/sites/).

Now I'll have to click through the first list... I see lots of sites I haven't checked out before. Thanks for posting!

At first, it looked like it was mainly a review/list site, but once I saw the commercials archives and stuff like that, I thought that put it over the top. Basically, my reasoning was that reviews are pretty common, and that in itself wouldn't set a site apart.

Wow, I would like to find an English-language FM Towns site myself! Too bad I'm a bit too poor to collect for that system right now.

It's quite funny how they made regular games for it, then gave in and cashed in on hentai stuff and ended up doing ok financially. The thing I like about it is how little it is known in the history of consoles.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but I updated the links page of this site with all of the ones on my list that it didn't have and were worth putting in. It grew by about 55 entries, so there's no more reason to look at this topic if you had been before for any reason. So, enjoy the new, bigger list!
