i bought this game last week at the back to old school sale at gamecrazy, and i have to say the more i play this game the more i love it.
the music is pretty good, and the graphics look worthy of a super nintendo title, i was stunned at all the detail!

any one else like this game or have any neat info on it? it would be much appreciated.

That's Natsume's shadow of the Ninja! That's a great, great game. I remember when it came out--I felt everybody was stupid for not kneeling down and hailing to that cart. It's wonderful.

One interesting tidbit--there's a version of Ninja Gaiden for the old b/w Gameboy, called Ninja Gaiden Shadow. The game is essentially a port of Shadow of the Ninja with Ryu's sprite pasted over the male character's. Hell, wasn't that Gameboy cart even published by Natsume or something? I dunno....

Since that game, though, I've always felt Natsume were brilliant and entirely underrated in the US (Pocky 'n' Rocky, Harvest Moon, Abadox, these are all great.)

Natsume created the GB cart, then licensed it to Tecmo for some reason. Still not sure why.

I LOVE Shadow Of The Ninja. It's one of the best NES games I've ever played.

i definitely agree with you on that, how many levels are there total? ive made it to level 5 so far.

i picked it up last weekend because i saw it was made by natsume, i figured it must be atleast decent, the first thing i saw were the graphics, they blew me away, i felt like i was playing a turbografx-16 game or something because of all the vivid colors and backgrounds.

i give this game an A+

If I recall correctly, there's six stages. I might be wrong, so don't quote me on that.

Garuda's a bitch, though, so you've got a fight ahead of you.

None that I can recall. It's been years since I've seen the game beaten - never did it myself, but I watched a friend of mine do it. He had the damndest time with Garuda's second form.

They also made the storyline part of the NINJA GAIDEN series. So it is pretty much like those two GBC Zelda games in a way...? NGS reminds me of NG3 a lot...

Yeah, Tecmo ended up dropping the Shadow Of The Ninja characters and replacing them with Ryu, and changed the cinemas to match. I just want to know why Natsume didn't keep the game and release it as a Shadow Of The Ninja title.

There's a tactic to defeat the final boss. I remember my cousin finding it out, with the tactic it wasn't difficult, but at that tiem the counsellors from Nintendo didn't knew how to beat him, lol.

Natsume is definitely one of the most underrated comapnies for the NES. They were awesome! I love the NSF soundtrack to abadox....

This game is IMHO one of the top-10 NES games. The graphics are awesome and look 16-bit im some parts!!

By the way im a very average gamer, and i beat this game the same day i got it, so im sure its not a hard game!

No, it's not very hard, and yes, it looks amazing. It's not exactly 16-bit quality, but it definitely rivals the SMS. I loved all the rotating/clock-gear platforms. They looked great.

To beat NGS, you have to jump to avoid the lightning from what I remember. It took many tries, but I beat it. Thank you, unlimited continues :)

Shadow Of The Ninja is an AWESOME game! Now I gotta find this Ninja Gaiden Shadow....I had no idea.

I remember, as a kid, getting Shadow Of The Ninja from the value bin ad KayBee Toys. My aunt bought it for me, man, I love my Aunt.
