my universal soul calibur II joystick DOES NOT work with my usb adaptor. my normal controllers work fine tho...even better in mame. did you install the drivers? and before you plugged it in? are you using mame32?

oh, and btw, this is what i use in mame with my psx adaptor :D

your adaptor should've come with a driver. with that you'll be able to test it, and also test the motor for the psx controller. (my rumble doesn't work usually) i will be more than happy to send you the driver, but you may have a different device, or it may not matter, or it may not even make a difference.

this is the one i have

Here's my Mame32 PS2 USB controller setup.

Win98
Radio Shack PS2 - USB adapter (requires drivers - installed)
Mame 32 v82b

My PSOne controller works with my Mame setup. I did enable the controller input ---> Mame32/Options/Default Game Properties/Controllers/Enable joystick input.

The only hitch is if the analog button is on, I can use only the left analog stick or I can turn it off and use the left d-pad.

on a side note, sometimes you have to hold down the analog button whilst you plug the psx controller in, to get analog (useful info if you ever wanna try out epsxe)

Thanks for the info on using the left analog stick. I didnt know that. I also have that Radioshack usb adapter. Just tried it out with a game of Time pilot.

One thing I've noticed: make sure your USB controller is connected before you start MAME. If you plug it in after you've started up MAME I find I have to reconfigure it in order for it to be recognized.

I'm running MAME 32 .78 personally. Take a look at your 'ctrlr' directory. Create a new directory called "PlayStation", and copy the 'std.ini' (which is in the base ctrlr directory) into your new directory. Rename the file to be "default.ini" - and then open it up with a text editor and read around in it a bit.

Afterwards you'll be able to select "PlayStation" under Options - Default Game Options - Controllers.

Worked like a charm for me.

EDIT: Oops. The forum is *really* messed up right now. I didn't see the last few replies properly. My bad.
