So I was looking at some of the student organizations here at the good ol' University of Washington, and I noticed that there aren't any that deal with video games. This is a total shame, since there are a bunch of campus facilities that would be perfect for games. The UW has a ton of auditorium type rooms with projectors. Could you imagine a SNES Street Fighter II ladder tournament with the finals being held on a 100 inch screen? Or 10 player Saturn Bomberman? The other thing is the huge base of gamers that would be perfect for trading. The Officers could assist with mediating trades, organizing tournaments, holding meetings, etc.

Has anybody tried a similar group activity? Specifically, I was wondering if some of the organizers of PhillyClassic, or some of the smaller gatherings (NWCGE, NECG, etc.) could give me some advice...[/list]

That's ok, we're in off topic! Budum shee.

Anyways, no, never been to illusionz, but I know about it thanks to Penny Arcade, heh. I'd go but I have a hard time just making it to Fred Meyer since my car died. I'm in Wedgewood and if I remember correctly Illusionz is in Issaquah.

I tried an anime club last year, but only like 5 regulars showed up everyweek. I continually invite people over to play games, but I guess maybe I intimidate them? The never seem to show up. Doesn't work on a campus that has maybe 1000-2000 students.

There is an Anime Club here, with there are about a 100 or so regulars that show up(Including Shaw-Island's (http://www.shaw-island.com) Zach Stroum). I guess a student body of 10,000 has its advantages. But this would be an "official" organization, with an office, website, Statement of Purpose, Constitution, and even funding. I just need to find four other people responsible enough to make up the 5 person Officer's group.

Funding! That's the key, man. More than enough reason to start it up, even it's 5 people. :D :D :D
