My boxed Diner for the Intellivision. I didn't really have to sell it to make the bills, I could have kept it =\. My Galaxian Vic20 cart I kind of regret too.

Final Fantasy 3 and Chrono Trigger SNES, both complete, no bend on the box and manuals, sold both for $25 each back in 1994, ouch, to this day it still hurts, even though I do not collect SNES games, I keep everything in new condition as I bought it.

All I miss are some PSX games I traded away - I let somebody borrow my copy of Metal Gear Solid (with the guide, mind you all was new at the time) and I eventually traded it away for the equivalent package in Tomb Raider 3. Eh, maybe I'll care enough again to pick up the game + guide someday.

Plus I miss my "Duke Nukem: Time to Kill," what with its silly music video intro clip and funny levels.

During my lull in gaming (end of SNES until PS2), I got into CCGs. When Star Wars first came out, all of my friends played it. I didn't have a job and was too invested in Magic to buy any Star Wars cards so I was left out. Long story short, I saw an advertisement that EB was giving 100 bucks in credit for a SNES with 5 games. I traded in a boxed/complete SNES and 5 boxed/complete games. Those games were Final Fantasy 2, Megaman X, Megaman X2, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, and Lufia 2. I had 7 games at the time, and while I'm not entirely sure what I was thinking, I know that I regret the two games I decided to keep. Super Mario World and Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball. *shudder* I used the credit to buy cards they were selling. On the plus side, I did get a black bordered Darth Vader and Obi Wan. On the bad side, those cards are worth nothing today :o

Ouch.

I meant the story.

Anyhow, that MGS came back THROUGHLY scuffed...even the entire outer case had a patina on it. I'd never see anything like it again until I saw a friend's Final Fantasy VII PC discs a half year ago or so.

On the plus side, the neat breakage of my original Half-Life game CD's case (or rather...the couple I've gone through) was pretty surreal. There was actually a section punched into the middle of the jewel case. That one was also lent to somebody, who back in 1998 thought he could copy it. Failure was the result. Plus my CD key's still good, the box is on my shelf, and the CD itself works. All is good!

I regret selling my first NES.

It wasn't a toploader and I didnt own any rare games for it.

I regret it because it was MY first game system and i had so many memories from that system. I hated myself for selling it off and i swore i'd never sell my Genesis.

I guess i shouldn't be that bummed about it because i own another NES and all the games i orginally had that i wanted (plus a few more).

My other would probably be trading away my complete copy of "Zombies Ate my Neighbors" for Genesis.

I sold my complete Sega CD/Genesis many years ago. Why do I still regret it? 'Cause this package included:

- Front-loading Sega CD system - pretty darn rare now
- *All* of my games were purchased new and I kept their cases/boxes in pristine condition. This collection included Night Trap (original run, purchased on day of release), Vay, Shining Force CD, and - hoo boy - Snatcher. Plus about 30-40 other like new, in the box Sega CD rarities.

Got a good price for it at the time. Worth TONS more now. Plus, I miss the system. Great games.

I don't think I have any regrets of things I have sold in the past. I did sell off my NES for $35 at a garage sale when I was a kid, and my SNES for $100 in the paper, but that was a LOT of money for me back then, and I think I had more fund with that then I did with those systems. I got back all of those games, and more, so I don't regret selling them back then...

I regret selling my old Intelly, coleco, NES and SNES.
All with at least 20 games, and up to 35-40 in the case of NES and SNES.
All with boxes, complete and sexy condition.

Oh yeah, thats right, I "upgraded" to get the newest system. x_x

Selling? My Atari 2600 with all the games, controlers, and accesories to buy a NES. My NES and all the games as well to buy a SNES. Plus a number of SNES games to buy a PS1.

Trade? When I traded FF2, FF3, Crono Trigger, Ogre Battle, Uncharted Waters:New Horizens, Civilization, Breath of Fire 1, and Breath of Fire 2 for store credit at Fun-co land and picked up Metal Gear solid, Parasite Eve, Brave Fencer Mushahi, and Xenogears when they were new. I still have the boxs, manuels, inserts for them all thankfully (got most back again as well).

Loan? When I loaned all the PS1 games from the trade above as well as Kings Feild 1 and Kings Feild 2 to a friend who I found later pawned them all.

In the end I traded my SNES clasics because I thought I would never want to play them again. I loaned what I got thinking I could trust friends. I ended up with nothing. Well, not exactly nothing as I'm a little more wise and a lot less trusting.

I regret trading off my Jaguar Cd and a sealed copy of Dragon Force (Saturn) for a bunch of Brazillian SMS games (this was before the things started popping up on Ebay all the time.)

I regret loaning that skanky chick my 5200 and games YEARS ago, and I regret dumping all the empty game boxes years later when I realized I'd never got it back.

We had nothing in common and that lasted only 6 months before we parted our ways..Well she moved to Florida. LOL (I'm glad)

Rocking in the Bed but nothing else...

I don't regret those 6 months of ..... :embarrassed:,but I do regret selling all those games...She tried to get me out of games totally and it partially worked with that sale.
Until I came to my senses..
Things like my job started to become affected by this constant running around with this girl and I had to nip it in the butt.

It's amazing what a hot girl will do you.. x_x

My wife is a game player and I told her when we met..I will always play and collect games..
Get that straight from the door and I'll never change..

I regret selling my £2000 PC for £500 to buy a DC Dev Kit.

I would have to say these:

Sold my Kisado for $30 back in 1998 (that was the going rate) when I needed the dough.

Traded Strider Hiryu ACD for Mad Stalker ACD. Downright stupid.

Sold my Arcade Card Duo with the Kisado for an additional $30.

Traded Shining Force III in for $25 credit at Funcoland back at the end of the Saturn's life.

I have definitely had my share of costly doozies. At least I hung onto PD Saga 8-)

About 2 months before I realized that game collecting was my calling, I sold a Maxi 15 NES cart I had bought a long time back at a flea market. Sold it on eBay and made about 30 bucks on it.

Still, DAMN, I wasted it on some shitty DVD's or something.

I really regret selling my Intellivision. Given as a gift from a friend who owned a local arcade, I held onto it for quite a few years and even added to the collection with more titles and an Intellivoice. But then it sat, unplayed for some time and I lived in a mobile home so space was scarce. Sold it on eBay for I don't remember how much. Recently I found one of my old catalogs and promptly downloaded an Intellivision Lives! demo with Space Spartans. When I heard the voice announce the game, memories came flooding back thmy visits with my cousin who had an Intv. I wasn't really good at Space Spartans so I handled the repairs and hyperspace while my cousin was the pilot and gunner-essentially I was Scotty to his Captain Kirk. Intv had a great combination I didn't quite appreciate: simplicity with complexity. An oxymoron but one that fits in this case. This one I'll probably get again.

Another minor regret was selling my Atari 5200. Not that it was a big deal as I didn't like the controls but it had a coolness factor about it. I also had a bunch of decent games (Space Dungeon, Pitfall 2, Dreadnaught Factor, etc.) Don't know if I'd buy one again or not but I do think of it from time to time, crap joysticks and all.

Man, sorry, I have to say, TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF, IT'S EXTREMELY ANNOYING WHEN YOU TYPE LIKE THIS!

Many years ago I ended up selling most of my game collection, but kept some things around. After time I got back into it and started over. I have more now than ever. Oh, why I sold it. Well, I got bored of the hobby. I pursued other interests and just did not calculate into keeping the stuff. I'm going through that feeling now, but having already learned my lesson, I put all my games in a storage facility. Maybe one day I'll get back into it again.

About 7 years ago my wife says that my PC games are taking up too much space, "when will it end?" I get the bright idea of reducing them to just manuals and media. I crush and toss most of the boxes (about 60 of them) and store the manuals and media neatly in white storage crates. It did reduce the space taken up and it seemed like a good idea at the time as I wasn't really a collector, I was really just a pac-rat. After I commit this foul act (not before and not during, despite me talking about it to her and her being around while it was happening) she then says she did like the way all the pretty boxes looked on the shelves, "much nicer than the new storage containers even though they only take up half the space". Grrr. What I had done began to sink in and I've regretted it ever since.

I no longer act so quickly to appease her casual remarks regarding my hobby.

As I began to grow out of my NES, I sold off some of my collection to friend of my moms. While I didn't sell the system, I did part ways with handful of games and accessories. Included amongst those accesories was "the incredibly lame" R.O.B. 12+ years later, he's no longer quite so lame.

This story does have a happy ending, tho, as after a year of hunting I finally found him at the swap meet for around $3. He only came with one gyro and the red and blue button attachment, so I'm still short a complete gyromite set. But I'm pleased to have him here on my work desk with me.

I used to "upgrade" frequently from 1993 to 1996, selling "old" games/systems to get new ones. Since I'm now a retro gamer, I don't think I made very good decisions at the time... but I don't necessarily regret it. There's a time for everything.

The only regret I really have is trading away ColecoVision Fortune Builder. I found it in the wild before I had a ColecoVision console, so I traded it toward getting an O2 Great Wall Street Fortune Hunt set. Back in my youth I used to sell my games to get cash to buy games. So I went thorugh alot of games back then. Kind of wish I had them all today though I am slowley rebuilding my collection on those things.

I guess I regret pawning my Sega CD (model 1 w/drawer). I originally bought it at launch and well a couple years later I packed it up and pawned it off for a measly $50! It was totally complete with all heat sheilds, all pack in games and even that little screw to secure the base plate on the bottom of the genesis. I still to this day am in need of a Sega CD system so I can play my games that I have now.

I regret selling, trading, or giving away every single piece of videogame history I've ever parted ways with. I've only had to repurchase or search frantically for all of them ever since.

Tombi [AKA Tomba] really comes to mind. A year or 2 back I got both games in the series and sold them off before trying them out. About half a year ago I got Tombi 2 back but still looking for the first.
