Someone pointed out in an earlier post that today is the Dreamcast's 5th birthday.
:bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday:
I still remember the ads for 9/9/99
The DC may be dead in America, but games are still being made for the Japanese market... the "Loaded" (PSone) style shooter Baldr Force EXE is coming out in October (it's a port of a PC hentai game with much of the hentai stuff removed) and there are still several dating simulators still on the release schedule. I'm waiting for another 2-D shooter!
I doubt the DC will ever REALY die for some time... the DC homebrew market is quite active!

Yes! The Dreamcast Lives on!
I actually just played an awesome Homebrew for DC last night called "Megaman - War of the Past". Any megaman fans should NOT miss this one. It's a bare knuckle style game, ya know Final fight and all that beat em up arcade style. But you can play as Rockman, Zero, Protoman, Roll or Duo! and you fight all the megaman baddies. The levels are awesome and the music is awesome remixed versions of old megaman tunes. Really good stuff.
if interested just do a google search for it. It's public domain, so should be hard to find not is it illegal.
And I just got my Sonic Adventure japense import in the mail today from Play asia! What timing!
Don't forget the Playstation and SNES. 9 and 13 years old today! I've been playing DC all day. Brings back a lot of memories. I bought 2 DC's at launch. Dreamcast is an awesome system. hell yeah!

I don't know about you guys, but I plan on going to dcemulation.com to get myself a homebrew just for today. everybody that has their dc and is posting on this topic should do the same. just to show our boy dc some love and let him know that we haven't forgot about him.
EDIT:
http://www.vampsoft.tk/
go there and get the ninja turtles sga. sga=single game arcade. they now have a 2-player version working on dc. i have no affiliation with this site, so I am not trying to advertise for them. This thing is just awesome though. Show the dc some love today and get her something new. I, for one, will be downloading a couple multiplayer sga's as well as others games.

I missed out the DC in its heyday. Got one about a year-and-a-half ago in a trade and it quickly became my favorite "modern" system - yeah yeah I know it's "dead" in the U.S. but hardware-wise its still comparable to the PS2 so I say it rates modern console status. It's not even really "dead", it's more like missing in action.
Anyway I have two DC's now: one to play and one to sleep with under my pillow. Great system. Happy Birthday to the little white box that should....
Gonna break me out some Soul Calibur (real Soul Calibur, kids) and Sonic Adventure tonight...

HOLY SHIT! I can't believe I didn't remember this. I was even at a few stores and had to ask the clerks what date it was when I was writing a couple of checks at a few different stores, I guess I just didn't notice.
I sure as hell can't believe it's already been 5 years ago!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, 9/9/99!!
I remember we me and my friend both waited til each other got off school, we went to different schools, and I reserved mine at Toys R Us, and he reserved his at FuncoLand. We both got about 3-4 games each, extra controllers, and memory cards. We both picked up Soul Caliber and Sonic Adventure. I remember it was a little bit colder day and we went and celebrated at Taco Bell after we got our systems. That's when Creed was really popular and remember a couple of their songs at the time where being played on every ROCK station around here. WOW, the memories. I am going to call him up after this and see if he remembers.
Sorry if this post is too long. It's just when I started to just write Happy Birthday to the DC it brought up too many memories. It was even my Senior year in high school as well, so it even brings up more memories there.
Other than the Gameboy Color, the DC is the only system on launch day I have bought. So it was my first major system I got on launch day. :bday:

Hey, look at that! I just found a complete copy of Shenmue II (DC) for $30! @_@ w00+
Happy birthday again, DC.
YAY! Happy Birthday!. Ill have to buy my system a belated birthday present.
:bday: :bday: :bday:
Even though Ive had a Dreamcast for only 2 years it is easily the best system of the current gen. Time to celebrate by kicking some ass. But what fighting game do I choose, oh the choices.

I can't believe it's been that long. I bought one on the release date too. I still think Dreamcasts graphics are better than a lot of crap on PS2.

Where did the time go? IMHO the DC is still the best home console ever made. I'll still be playing games like Soul Caliber, Sonic Adventure, Sega Marine Fishing years from now.
BTW anyone remember those laughable reviews over PS2 launch classics like Tekken 3 (ohmygod look at those graphics), I'm convinced Sony greased a few palms at game mags to hype the PS2 to death. Street Fighter EX! gah, I just wet myself it's so good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I remember buying my DC on launch day at Best Buy. It was the first Sega console I ever purchased and ended up being my favorite one to this day out of all the consoles I own. The Dreamcast actually convinced me to buy all the other Sega consoles. :)

Hell yeah!
I got my Dreamcast in Christmas 2000. To me Dreamcast was the new capitol of fighting games.
My first games were Shenmue, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Capcom vs. SNK.
As time passed I started getting into the fighting game scene and DC NES Emulation.
Even though I got SF Anniversary Collection for PS2, as mediocre the Dreamcast version of SF3: Third Strike is compared to the PS2, I'm still keeping the Dreamcast version as a reminder of how great the Dreamcast fighting days were. Taking them to arcades for big local area tournaments and other stuff like that.

First got my DC a couple years ago from the DP Survivor game. Loved it ever since.
