After looking in the Dreamcast Birthday thread, (Happy B-Day Dreamcast!) I saw the post about the game Mega Man and the War of the Past. I really want to download this game and play it on my Dreamcast, but I have NO idea what I'm supposed to do. I have downloaded all the files, and I'm gong to extract them in a minute. Now what do I do?

Can I ask where you dled the ISO's for it though, PM me?

Anyhow, you gotta burn it to cd, download the program Alachol 120%.

Alcohol 120% and say burn image. You have to extract an .iso file to get this to work.

DO I have to extract the files? I'm guessing yes, but just to make sure. And do I need any other special programs?

If you downloaded them as rar format, then yes, extract them. Anything else do what Gary and I suggested.

Lone, lemme know how Mega Man is also please.

Yeah, they were in .rar format. What do I do when they're done extracting?

No problem. Looks really cool.

Butta, there's a much better dl of Mega Man at suprnova.org actually. After you extract the rar files leave them alone and burn the cd with the aforementioned program.

i always try and download those damn games form suprnova.org, i extract them and then throw them all in one file... and then burn them with alcohol 120%.... and end up making a worthless cd everytime, i gave up. i hate that!

I found a new place to download it, but it's on a GamePark32 website. Does it still work?

kainemaxwell

Not sure, I'm gonna dl it from suprnova tonight.

Lone_Monster

I tried it an it didn't work. It came up as an audio CD. I took a download, that was a zip format from a GamePark32 website. Think that's the problem? I guess I should try again with my .rar format downloads, but one of them doesn't want to work.

Anyway, the one I just did was a .ftp file, and I did the burn image. Did I leave anything out?

I don't want to download it off SuperNova, because I have to pay to use it. Are there any other places to download it, or can someone please help!?

look for homebrews at the top left of the screen.
every game has install tutorials. if i remember right, the megaman you are talking about is actually a mod for beats of rage.

there is another megaman title homebrew as well, megamanx. just goto the homebrew part, but instead of downloading it straight up, goto the creators webpage for it (click on the name of the creator when it gives you the option to download the files). the creators website almost always give tutorials. if you need more help, post back up here.

I mentioned Megaman War of the Past in that other thread. So I'll try to help anyone out here if help is still needed.

First off, when DLing the game from the GamePark 32 site - THAT'S THE GP32 VERSION OF THE GAME! NOT THE DC VERSION, so leave that one alone unless you have a GP32 flash card.

I found the game on Suprnova.org (NOT .COM!) as previously stated, suprnova.org is the REAL torrent site.

a side note - a .torrent file that you get from sites such as suprnova.org is a kind of reference file, that when opened with the program Bit Torrent or, Bit Tornado (which I like better), will then download the files that you need.

Once you have DLed all of the .rar files, you should only need to extract the FIRST .rar. file in there series of .rar files that you have DLed. That file should contain an ISO image. I have NEVER, in all of the DC games that I have gotten off the net (legal Public Domain games of course) had to extract ALL the .rar files involved with a game, just un-rar the first file and get the ISO from there.

Some people use alcohol 120 to burn DC games. I much prefer Paddus DiscJuggler. It really is the BEST program for burning Dreamcast game images.

If you do not want to DL the game from Suprnova.org or you dont want to bother with Bit Torrent (which would be a mistake, bit torrent is amazing) you can DL the game from this site here where all of the .rar. files are hosted, I guess by the guy that made the game.

http://bor.dcstuff.thefreeserver.net/megawop/

DL all of those into one folder and all you have to do is extract the first one and burn that. When you burn it with whatever program, it will reference information from the other archive files, thats why even though you are only burning the image that's in the first .rar, it's still NECESSARY to DL all the other .rar files and put them in the same folder.

pm me with any questions and I'll try to help out.

The game is pretty cool, and worth the trouble to get it, IMO.

ENJOY!

Burning Mega Man will make least half my DC collection burned imports (Zero Gunner 2 and Ikaruga), couple mods(BoR and MM) and unreleased titles (Propeller Arena and Half-Life...though like to find PBA Bowling someday too). lol

Finally, I got it!

I like it. I really do, and I'm glad I downloaded it. It just wasn't exactly as good as I thought it would be. But I want to beat it so I can be Zero. I'd give it a 7/10. Great music.

I really think that the music is the best part of it. Those Xhunter looking guys on the hoverbike that go back and forth are SOOOO ANNOYING!!!

Burned Mega Man earlier, love it so far. Especially love the fact that Roll's playable and Mega Man's special attack is turning into some drill car.

The only experience I've ever had with DC ISO's is when I found that SNES emulator that works on it. I believe I used Alcohol 120%, most of the games were too slow to really enjoy, but I was really glad I didn't have to put a modchip in it or anything for it to work. Bless that little white box...

Now, I think I'll attempt to download this...
