:)
Hello, can anyone help me ? I have a sega nomad and i need to open it to repair the bright button, and i need to open the nomad, the 4 screws open good (no problem ) but the 5th screw is a security one, first i went to at least 5 workshops and no one had the security bit, then after searching and reading in several forums on the net (google etc etc) i found out that maybe ebay was the answer, they sell security bit tools to open it, i found out that a 4.5mm is the one that opens the nomad, and i found two sellers on ebay with that security bit set, but the problem the mentioned was that because the security screw is very deep and strech i would need to open a bigger hole on the nomad!! (since itīs plastic i bet it would crack) because the security bit tool they sell fits the screw but it is very fat to fit inside that strech and deep hole, my question is, is there any form to break it or something like that? iīm very desperated to open and fix my button, and nothing seems to work,

Thank you very much for your help and kindness

Well there's a thread here about making a bit to fit into the hole. I think we were talking about Virtual Boy then. Search function should help.

As what comes to alternatte methods, you can drill the head of the screw off and use pliers to get the rest out after you've opened the case. For this, an exremely steady hand (and good nerves) or a vice is helpful.

Standard 4.5mm bits do the trick. They are *just* long enough, especially if you stuff a small wad of paper in the driver. LOL

Standard 4.5mm does not work, specially since the hole is very deep and stretch, i also thought about drilling the bit but i guess it should be the last option, since you donīt know if itīs going to break or not, or maybe break some circuit or stuff........

The 4.5 mm security bits work with the screw but doesnīt have the lenght and are very wide or fat......
I saw the post about the repairing guide of a virtual boy and the best option to me is to cut the 4.5mm and add it to a fit screwdriver, if that doesnīt work i guess then nothing wil ever do... but thanks anyway, if anyone has any suggestion please post it ,cause at least another 3 users have the same problem, thanks :D

My security bit must be a smidge longer. :o Did you try stuffing a wad of paper into the diver? The driver doesn't need much purchase to make it turn, and once the screw is started, you are on your way, as it gets higher and higher.

The custom VB tool is the way to go.

Yeah, if someone made those tools to sell, I would buy one. It may be necessary for a VB, but it would be more convenient for EVERYTHING.
