I have a question.

Why do people post threads that have absolutely no indication about the topic they're about to discuss?

It's just... curious.

Anyway, I'm adding my two cents to the description to clarify.

By the way, Telegames has been around forever and their prices have ALWAYS been high. It's not a sign of what's to come, it's a sign of what has always been.

Ages ago I wanted to buy Power Strike 2 for the SMS from them...

BUT THEY DONT ACTUALLY HAVE IT

Yep, they list it in stock "in case they get it in again"

And if they had great prices they would have sold out of everything years ago so you wouldn't be buying things now either. But go ahead and keep complaining if it makes you feel better.

Hmmm, where else you are going to buy sealed NOS games? There aren't too many other places around, at least on that scale and with that quality.

I use to laugh at their prices too, especially at their booth prices at CGE 2K3. However, if they didn't sell anything, they wouldn't be in business. Yes, I do agree some of their stuff is priced beyond what I would pay ($69.95 for Addam's Family for the TG16 CD?), but they are very reliable, all their stuff is new and they do have some fair prices. For instance, I bought Ghost Manor new and sealed for under $29.95 (off ebay) for the TG16 to help finish my collection. The same game, complete, rarely comes around on ebay and when it does go for the same price, and its used.

You may also want to check their ebay auctions.

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&since=-1&userid=telegamesuk&rows=50&sort=3&include=0&rd=1

They tend to start stuff out lower than their website's prices. For instance, Falcon, new & sealed, is starting out at under $20 US, while their website lists it for $49.95.

Ah, yes... I saw thier booth at CGE2k3. I was considering buying some Lynx games from them until I realized where the decimal points were. I still have that price list in my show program, just for laughs.

It's pretty much a guaranteed way to get people curious enough to look inside. For the record I only glanced at this thread because of the ammended topic title. Only post threads with pertinent names and get maybe 11 replies, watch some yahoo write 'Hay look at this' and there's freaking 40 posts.

I have a few experiences to share with you regarding some of my personal dealings with Telegames USA.

My first experience was buying a Telegames DINA Colecovision clone. I found the webiste, found the console, then called in the order. They were very nice taking my order. TWO MINUTES LATER I was still on the website and went to the "specials" section and found that I could have gotton a free sealed copy of River Raid with the console had I mentioned a special code. I called back RIGHT THEN, and the nice guy on the phone (same one from two minutes earlier) turned into a complete a-hole and refused to give it to me. I was shocked at the poor customer service. I cancelled the order right then and there, then re-ordered it with the special code a few hours later. Jerks.

To their credit, the console and game arrived in great condition, and it also plays Sega-1000 games on it from the second slot. SWEET!

My second dealing with them was at CGE two years ago... I bought a sealed copy of Last Blade for Neo Pocket Colour, UK hard clamshell version for $60. A reasonable deal, I thought. The two guys hosting the booth were very unfreindly, though, unlike the folks at DP's and Songbird's tables. I'm going to hold onto the game for awhile as I think the NGPC will one day be appreciated for all its greatness.

My last (and final) dealing with Telegames USA was when I was trying to find a copy of Pocket Reversi UK edition, also for NGPC. They had it lsted on their website for $70. I e-mailed and asked to be sure if it was the UK version, not the MUCH more common Japanese version. A guy e-mailed me back and ASSURED me it was the UK version. I happened upon a thread at neo-geo.com regarding this same topic and discovered that several members had ordered the UK game from Telegames only to get the Japanese version, followed by a big drama when they complained and tried to return the game.

I ended up calling Telegames and asked a very nice lady to check to see if it was indeed the UK version and NOT the Japanese version. She called back a few hours later (still very nice) and told me that all they had were Japanese games.

I e-mailed the guy back and asked him about it. His response?

"Oh, we JUST sold out of the UK version."

:hmm:

Give me a break, Joe Izuzu. I might have smoked a lot of grass in college, but the better part of my brain is still functioning. That's what did it for me. I realize every company will make mistakes, but this man was downright lying. He knew all along all they had were Japanese copies, and he was trying to sell them as UK copies in the hope that some buyers would just keep the wrong game rather than dealing with the rude and unpleasant treatment they would get trying to get a refund.

I know that Telegames is a seller at CGE with a big table full of neat (if way overpriced) stuff. I hate to talk badly about an associate of DP. I just think that some of the employees (the owners, mainly) are dishonest people.

Just my 2 cents, based entirely upon my experiences.

Cheers

Many years ago I got a Dina Coleco Clone from them as well along with a CD player for my Atari Jaguar. At the time, they both were reasonably priced as they had a deal going on. The lady on the phone was super cool, I got the stuff in perfect condition and was pretty happy. But yes, I just recently saw thier prices. As much as I would love to own some stuff new and sealed, I think it is more fun to find the stuff on a scavenger hunt to the local thrift shops.

its the same if you were to walk into mcvans or any other place that happen to still have new stuff.yes the prices seem high for stuff but i figure its at least similar to the same prices we would have paid when they came out.

Telegames is teh suck.

I was considering breaking my "never deal again with Telegames" rule recently to get a Jaguar RGB cable from them via eBay - I was watching one for 6 days that was at £4.99 with no bids, then on the last day it mysteriously jumped to an £11.99 minimum bid despite the fact that there were still no bids on it. And they wanted £4 (~$7) postage for a frickin' cable. Fuck 'em.

you think USA Telegames prizes are high?
Try UK Telegames

www.telegames.co.uk

and then you really cry.

But, like Joe said, they (Telegames UK) are here since 1984, they grabbed a lot of Atari games which otherwise would have gone under, hence their own label, and Telegames UK have an excellent and quick service. They supported VCS when NO shop would stock them. And if you are looking for something which never pops up anywhere else, you might get lucky with Telegames. I like Telegames (UK)

Telegames UK do a lot of ebay selling, I got the Jaguar Hint book for $3.00, so there are bargains out there sometimes, even from them.

Only place left on Earth where you can get a brand new Atari Jaguar CD unit bundled w/Iron Soldier 2 for ANY price. I've been meaning to get that for 3 years now; and have watched their price go up over the years. Something tells me I better get one soon though.

They're pricy, sure, but they've also supported development on some decent titles that otherwise would never have seen the light of day. Desert Strike for Lynx and Iron Soldier II for Jac (IS3 for PSOne, for that matter) immediately come to mind. Perhaps their exorbitant pricing goes in some small part towards funding development.

Something else to keep in mind: sometime back Telegames had one of their warehouses destroyed by a tornado. I do know that this all but wiped out their supply of Dina consoles (which is why those are so pricey) and perhaps took out some of their other inventory as well. Ever had your business nearly destroyed by a natural disaster? I imagine it turns you into something of a hard-case, and probably necessitiates certain price increases as well.

Prices are high, but many of the games are geared toward collectors, sometimes I prefer to buy from places that charge a little more but allows you to save up and be sure the games are what you want in the long run, there're other places that in similar pricing structure, such as McVans, Good Deal Games, half.com, Neostore, Telegames UK (their Neo-Geo AES game prices have to be seen to be believed).

Most importantly, many of these places, the sellers will be able to pay attention to the conditions of the games, I actually prefer to buy sealed Dreamcast games from GDG since Mike is willing to take time to do appraisals. IN my case a flawed condition game means I'll have to get another one, so why not pay more and just get one right.

If you want good deals, get them from eBay, they tend to be from sellers who want to get rid of them in a hurry, else as a seller who can wait and get a good prices, use half.com, I had a few sealed, perfect conditioned DC games on half.com that took over 6 months to sell but I got very good prices from them.

ADAM's House also has pretty high prices, but certain companies that you find on-line are a good deal cheaper. As always, it pays (and saves!) to shop around.

Also, avoid pirated games. Before I realized how to check out homebrewed games, I ended up with 2 such games: Cosmo Fighter 2, and Kevtris.

I would be willing to bet my entire collection that it's another one of the "mistakes" they have on their webpage.

They MUST realize that having an ebay ID that is called"telegamesuk" REALLY kinda looks more like "Telegame Suk" as opposed to "Telegames UK"

They RECENTLY sold out, huh? What a surprise! You JUST missed it! At least they won't sell and ship you the more common US version and then give you s--t when you try to return it, That's what Telegames USA likes to do.
