So is anyone else besides myself and Digital Press playing this? It's an excellent game, especially now that it's $29.99 pretty much everywhere these days and has excellent off and online modes. If you're into racers at all, it's well worth a purchse, and if you also happen to enjoy online gaming, it's a double-whammy.
Also, I have a quick question about this game: It's looking like I'm going to have to reformat my hard drive shortly to see if it fixes a problem I've been having. Most of my saves I don't mind losing (Deus Ex and Riddick, for example, since I haven't played them in a long while), but I would really HATE to lose my save for this game since I've worked hard (and cussed plenty) to unlock a lot of the cars and tracks and such...despite the fact the back label doens't indicate it, would the memory unit work with this game if someone has one and has tried it?

Great stuff. The original is almost hard to play after you get this one.

Funny you should provide that link. I was just remembering to myself as I played it that somewhere in a review I had read that 'racing games would be the new standard for graphics' and it's nice that I don't have to go to google to look that up :D.
EDIT: Also, and this is purely subjective, but some things in this game that really helped me out:
- Change your co-driver's setting to "advanced" for a better description of what's coming up
- Change your visual cue from the cards to the mini-map, which helps me out tremendously
- Change tach from analog to digital, which gives you a bit more screen space to deal with (but also removes the odometer, which is only really useful for seeing how far you are from unlocking a new skin)
- Forget the left trigger. I usually gun races full-blast now, using a combination of slowing down and the handbrake (A) to take turns. This was advice from a guy online who was smoking myself and some friends, even when he was handicapping himself with a lesser car.

I've been meaning to get this (and Xbox for that matter) when they stop charging 50€ around here. :o Looks amazing and I guess it would be a good chance to try this "new" online game thing everyone's talking about. :)
As of now I've been playing Richard Burns Rally on PS2. Dunno if they're going to release it Stateside as he ain't too hot a license on your shores but if they do, be sure to check it out if you like simulation type of things. Fiendishly realistic, makes grown men cry.

I'd be playing it, if Microsoft would hurry up and release a PC version of it, like they did with the original! I love RS! It's the greatest rally game ever made!
BTW, I totally understand your reluctance to lose all your progress in it too. I unlocked all the cars and races in the original game using the VW Beetle for every race, and it was no easy feat to do it! I took 1st place in every race, but I had to repeat some of them dozens of times to do it with that car, and it was a real challenge. I still haven't won any of the downhill races with it though. It's just too hard with that car. I think I'm finally gonna have to change cars. Anyway, I had to find a program to clone my hard drive when I upgraded it, mostly because I couldn't bear the thought of having to go through all those races again. I think I picked the hardest car to do it with.

I've had it since the week it came out and I still play it once in a while. It's no Collin McRae 4 but it's still fun to play online with a bunch of people. Got all the cars and tracks unlocked too. My only complaint is that the cars seem to slide around way too much. I know it's a rally cross game, but the game physics seem over-exaggerated. The hillclimb event rules though.

Right on!
I don't know why, but of the low-end Rally cars, they stick you with that damned Ford Focus AFR for EVER before you can unlock the Subaru WRX. I started to hate that damn car and I won't be surprised if I cuss at the next one I see on the road out of habit. I used to just bullshit my way through events that opened another ladder of the championship so I could do hillclimb. Also, I just unlocked the Toyota Tocoma Pikes Peak and it's a fantastic beast, just like the Suzuki Grand Vitara, only even faster. On the other hand, I might look into the Mad Catz "Game Saves" thingie, since that might let me do what I need to.
