View Full Version : Am I an idiot for passing up Fox Hunt for $16?

There's a flea market somewhat near me that has an overpriced movie/video game store and they had Fox Hunt for the PSX for $16. I thought I heard something about the game being rare, but I didn't want to drop $16 on it if I wasn't sure; plus, since these guys are always overpriced, I figured they'd be charging way more if it was actually worth something. I just checked the guide and see that it's an R8/$25, which seems to be a low price for such a rare game. Also, the latest copy on eBay went for all of $1.04, so it doesn't really seem to be in demand.

Anyone think this game will appreciate in the future? Should I get my ass back there and pick it up? I doubt I'd be interested in playing the game much, so I'd be buying it purely as a collector - is it worth it?

$16 for Fox Hunt is a pretty good deal. I'd buy it at that price if I didn't have one already. I don't know about the copy that sold for $1 on Ebay...probably went that cheap because there wasn't a pic. They usually sell in the $25-$30 range if complete.

I say buy it. It's actually pretty decent for a FMV game so you might have fun with it.

Well, the soundtrack is good. I don't know that from playing the game, but from the Official Fox Hunt Soundtrack sitting on my cd shelves. Some good stuff there:

Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delite
Greg Kihn Band - Jeopardy
Average White Band - Pick up the Pieces

etc, even has some forgettable Sublime song on there.

Now that you've been thoroughly derailed, I return you to the thread in progress...

Yep. I'd expect it, Psychic Detective, Tail of the Sun, Team Buddies, and a few others to suffer from Chase the Chuckwagon/Tengen Tetris syndrome and be relatively cheap for the next few years, then suddenly skyrocket once the word really gets out.

I call it the "Chase the Chuckwagon" syndrome because it seems for every system the general public thinks one game is the rarest and will pay a premium for it while the true rare games are being largely ignored until someone whips up a rarity list and makes them think "Wow, THAT game is rare and I passed it up?" Right now people are spending big bucks on Dragonball Z Final Bout (well, they were until the re-release anyway), the Final Fantasy series, and Suikoden II thinking they're the rarest games while completely ignoring the others. I mean, really, who WANTS to play Tail of the Sun? LOL

In other words, go back and snag it. You'll be thankful later. ;)

Yeah, really. I got Tail of the Sun in a trade a while ago. I tried playing it but it was a total mess of a game. Unique concept but real sloppy gameplay and butt ugly graphics. The only reason I got it was because I knew it was going to be a future rarity.

Yep. I agree with the above posts. You are lucky that its not too expensive yet. Buy it and then store it. I got mine for $5.00 and I will never sell it. Get it while you can.

Dammit.......you know, it's posts like these that actually almost FORCE me to get in my car and drive 45 minutes just to buy the stupid game. LOL

OK, I'm still debating whether to go up there tomorrow or try to wait until next weekend. The likelihood of someone picking it up anytime soon is probably slim, but you never know. But I have the feeling that Queen of the Felines is most likely right, that this is one game that I'll kick myself hard over later if I don't get it now.

At least I have a copy of Psychic Detective floating around that I got for almost nothing - I hope that counts for something.
