that is hideously overpriced.
you'd have to be psycho to pay that. Seriously, look in the $50 range for that.

I'd even say $50 is too high. Finding the box will be tough, but if you need JUST the unit, it can be had for around $20.

Uhm.. he's talking about the 1ST GEN model guys! The one with the slide-out motorized tray.

Don't any of you guys EVER check eBay? These models have been fetching a pretty penny on eBay in the last few months. I know.. because I've been looking for one to replace my two now semi-functional units and can't seem to bring myself to bear with the prices they're going for lately (especially since I paid about a third of what they go for now.. years back).

Having said that.. if I COULD find a brand new, in the box, complete with manuals model 1 in my neck of the woods for $99.. I'D buy it.

I just sold one a few months ago for 28$. 99 is way to high, even for a complete one.

If it's a NEW SCD Model 1 then $99 might be a bit high but not unreasonalbe. If it's used with all the documents, bags , shielding brackets and packing (in good condition) then $40 seems to be the high-fair price. SCD units can be had with the Genesis attached around here from $10 up to about $30. Personally for $99 I better be looking at a CDX :D
Also the model 1's are getting a bit lean in avaliability, since the tray units for any cd system tend to go out more ofter than flip-up lid models. I suppose that many SCD 1's are finding themselves in a junkyard these days :bawling:
That may explain the rising price trend... but who would actively look for the same model system that died on them when the model 2 and cdx are around? :hmm:

I got a mostly new (besides some small amount of wear on the box) first version Mega Drive (Japanese, not Euro/UK) plus the original Mega CD unit from Dojoksy a while back, $150 I believe...*shrug*

Umm...hmm.... :o

Alot of these threads asking about the value of certain games/systems have been showing up here in the B&S forum lately and they really don't belong here. If you are BUYING (wanted to buy) or SELLING (either for sale or on ebay) feel free to post a thread here. The only exception to this is when a deal goes bad or you are looking for someone to complete a deal. (ie. the OROCHI WHERE ARE YOU? thread).

This isn't the what's it worth forum or the is this a good deal forum. It's for buying and selling. That's really it. If you do have general questions about the worth/value of a game or system, how about trying a few of these sources:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1

The DP video game forum, the most widely used forum on the board. Chances are, you'll get a good idea of an item's value here.

and if that doesn't help you, how about buying one these 2 great guides:

http://www.digitpress.com/dpg_plug.htm

Either one of these sources should help you on your way! :D

Moving this to the VG forum. ------->

I hate to interrupt the mood set by this fine example of a public service message, but this topic has been in the VG Forum all along, Vaderman. :)

I do agree with the reasoning, though.

Yup..That's what I paid but new in box..
Though I was standing in front of a Software ETC. at the time and they only offered him $5.00 x_x

.. I would. I guess this is where I finally let the cat out of the bag and talk about the "kind" of collector I am. There's someone in this forum (name escapes me now) who calls himself "the console collector".. or something like that. That's me as well.. kinda'.

You see.. I'm EVEN more proud of my consoles than my games. Why? Because when I start collecting for a system.. I HAVE to have EVERY physically different version of it. For example.. I have a Sega Gen/CD model 1 combo; a Sega Gen/CD model 2 combo; a Genesis 3 unit and a JVC X'eye (Still looking for a CDX); and they MUST be working and cosmetically nice. Boxes and manuals are not as important to me.. but nice to have.

If I can't afford ALL of the models off the bat.. I start with a rarer one (Which is why I have a Turbo Duo and NOT a TG-16 yet.). I have both models of NES, both models of SMS and both SNES's. I have 3 3DOs and I'm a little embaressed to say how many PSXs; and I hate to admit what happened when I decided I wanted Import Saturns as well.

Umm...Ed:

I moved it to the video game forum and left a shadow topic in the B&S forum. I didn't see another topic. Care to share it with me?

Sorry, saw this and posted well before you did, assuming it'd been here right along, so I assumed it hadn't been there. My bad.

You can't go by ebay prices, they are usually way too high. And I agree $99 is much too much even for a boxed first gen Sega CD, I'd pay $50 plush shipping for a CIB one, tops. Try gametz.com or bidiots.com
