I sold FF NP guide on eBay 3 or 4 months ago for $25.
Perhaps I just got lucky :)

This won't help you at all, but I remember an INSANE auction a few years back on eBay for that Final Fantasy guide.....

I think it went for $140-150, definitely a fluke - you don't know how bad I wanted to put my copy of the guide on eBay, but I knew it wouldn't fetch anywhere near that amount of money. Personally, I think it's a cool item to hold onto, who the hell knows, it might even be worth something someday.

The Final Fantasy fanboys are nuts, so it all comes down to getting lucky with your timing if you're a seller (or being patient if you're a buyer). I've seen the Final Fantasy guide half of the time in the $20 range and the other half of the time it's sold for just a few bucks.

Oddly enough, the SMB3 guide seems to sell at a consistently higher price than the Final Fantasy guide. Back when I last looked they ALL were selling for around $20. Sadly, that's the only one I'm missing. :/

Damn, I used to have that one, but I think the cover fell off. I may even have it floating around somewhere still, but I'm not sure. I think I lent the Ninja Gaiden 2 guide to my cousin and never got it back. I can't even remember what the other guide was (there were four of them, right?), so I doubt I still have that one anymore. Luckily, my Final Fantasy guide is fully intact and in good shape.

Hmmm I wouldn't pay too much for a NP #1. I just bought one on ebay for $3.99 and I don't think I would have paid a cent more.

I know somebody with 2 of the mario 3 guide. And i saw 2 acutions in the last couple days with first issue of NP ended at over 25 bucks, both with the high bidders with great feedback. I remember I saw an auction with 1 and 5 others between 2 and 10 send at 3 dollars. this was a few months ago. I should have bid.

What would the original nintendo newsletters be worth? The ones before NP.

Did you know that there are TWO versions of NP Volume 1?

I have #1 which says First Issue in the star.

I have another which says FREE SAMPLE COPY in the star.

The free sample one I got from Nintendo when they went from Fun Club to NP. Both issues are otherwise Identical inside.

Oh as for Nintendo Fun Club #1-7 I have seen Issues 3-7 go for around $10 In ex/nm. I have never seen a #1 or 2 on eBay...

The newsleters are worth alot, well the first 2 are. THey are called Nintendo Fun Club issues and I have seen the very first one on ebay go for anywhere from the lowest which was $75 to once I saw it go for $1200, these were MINT issues to by the way.
The second issue I have seen for $75 before.

Mine says "Free Poster Inside!" inside the star.

And I remember reading somewhere (volume 50 I think) that the premiere issue had the highest circulation of any NP. They made 3 million copies, gave them all to Fun Club members for free, and about half of them subscribed - which would make the next 6 issues or so have a circulation of about 1.5 million. So these early NP's are anything but rare.

The 1st issue of NP averages about $15.00 on Ebay and the Final Fantasy guide averages about $13.00. Of course with ebay there is always heavy fluctuation to consider.

I want the FUN CLUB newsletters. I was able to snag 4-7 off eBay, even though the crossword puzzles were filled out. I would be really picky like I am with my NINTENDO POWER mags, but these aren't that easy to find.

EXACTLY. I would be picky as well, like I am with my NP issues, but they are harder to find. I have #4-7 as well, pretty good shape with a few pencil mark exceptions.

i had that one also when i was younger, i think i signed up for the fanclub newsletter right about the same time as NP started, so i never got any fanclubs, just the free sample copy one (which still had the poster in it)

i looked through that mag so many times it just got destroyed. i drooled over mario2 (and still do)

I picked up a near mint copy of the FF NP mag for a buck over the summer... 8-)

I would really wonder if issues 7-19 (minus the strategy guides) would be more difficult to find, at least in any good condition, for the reason that the binding of these mags were stapled unlike the earlier and subsequent ones which were generally very well made (issues 80-91 were also stapled). I have a complete set but several of my issues between 7-19 are in terrible condition, one even missing its cover (the tetris issue :( ).

NP #1 was circulated in such high numbers that its high e-bay price really has to be a function of its sentimental/land mark status more than a real "rarity".

The stapled binding ones ARE harder to find in good condition.

Though I wonder if years from now if the stapled ones will be in better shape. I opened a box of old Playboys from 1986-1987 a few days ago and the glue they used for the binding was CRAP. Cracks, pages fall out, and the pages kinda wrinkle at the binding. Man, I hope this doesn't happen with the NP issues.... Staple binded issues from the 1970s don't have this problem. So that might be the one positive thing about the staple binded issues.

The best thing to keep issues of NP in great condition is...well...to have two subscriptions. You read one issue, the other one gets stored. With every renewal you get a guide free, that's 15.00, a yearly subscription is $20. I buy the majority of guides anyway, so this is a great deal.

I've been doing that since 1988. Even my second stapled issues are mint exactly like I got them back then.

The stapled issues of GamePro are a bit better, but if you read stapled issues of NP there is no way to keep them in good shape; even a anal retentive guy like me didn't manage that.

I usually see minty copies of NP1 go for about $20. Give or take $5 is usually the leeway. Those FF guides are pretty common...I'd say about$15 tops for one in awesome condition.

That is a pretty good idea. To get 2 subsritions, they aren't that much. But you can EASILY read the issue that you just received in the mail and file it away in you collection, PERFECT as you just got it. Well, that's at least what I do, read it VERY CAREFULLY and make sure not to bend anything and keep it mint.
