Recently I have been doing some cleaning around the house and found a few items I thought were a bit odd. Promo tapes for games. One was from Nintendo for Donkey Kong Island on the SNES, the next for was a bunch of Square games for the PS (xenogears, brave fencer mushashi, bushido blade), and the last was for Legend of Dragoon on the PS. I am wondering if these things are worth anything beyond keepsake value or if I should think about selling them. While I like having them around, I have most the games in question and consider them to be little more then dust colectors at this point. Any thoughts or observations on the items in question would be apreciated. If I am posting in the wrong section, I apologize.

Those all sound like they have value. People will pay for that stuff; if I see some promotional materials I'm interested in, I'll be willing to pay for them, and the same is true for any popular series or games from big names.
I almost feel like pre-emptively sending you an offer for 'em, but that would both be against my nature and would deplete my accounts and space yet further LOL

Do they have value? Not much. These promo VHS tapes are everywhere, but I don't know about specific titles. The one way to find out on the open market is to eBay them. Fact is, I wouldn't start them over $2 apiece, because that might be all they'd fetch. I see them all the time and never pick them up.

Sure, that Classic NES series kit is an example!
The problem with promotional materials is that, despite the historical value of them - in the far future for sure, but lots of people would be interested to see what propaganda's written in them now - they don't play very well, don't store that easily, and are likely to become musty in the near future. They sometimes feature famous characters and elements that make them attractive in the same way a poster or wall scroll would, but that's pretty limited utility.

Generally promo VHS tapes are worthless. It's tough to get $1 for them.
Some rabid Square idiot may pay to get the one tape from you, but thats about it.

I had no plans on making my fortune with them. Though the idea that they could bring enough to get an ST Key or pro-action replay for my saturn did. Ah well, if I can get 10$ for all 3, I think I may do that(and from what I now know is more then I should expect).
