Playing a Super Famicom, PAL questions

I want a Super Famicom but I need a PAL TV. I'm not too familiar w/ this whole PAL issue so I was wondering if you people could tell me exactly how you play YOUR famicom's? Do you have a PAL tv? a PAL converter?
Also where can I get a PAL to (a small one for good price) or a PAL converter for cheap. Heres an ebay auction for a converter. Can this be used?

Well if your in the US you shouldn't need a PAL tv, Super Famicoms work pretty much the same was a US snes. Try using a AV lead instead of the RF connectors?

I'm in the UK so i'm not to familiar with the TV / Signal system in the US..

What i can tell you is that both the Super Famicom and the US snes run at both 60mhz! full screen.

The UK Pal snes runs at 5Omhz with 2 big ugly borders at the top and bottom of the screen, which is crap.. imagine watching a wide screen movie on a normal TV and you have those big borders. :(

Japan runs on NTSC, not PAL... you don't need a PAL TV. And, quite frankly, you don't even need a Super Famicom console to play SFC games.

OK so the japanese famicom WORKS on standark US televisions? its the UK famicoms that wont work on US tv's? thanks guys Im just confused by all these versions :roll:
(also whats a reasonable price to pay on ebay for a super famicom, all hook-ups, and maybe a game or two) appreciate it!

Good grief, take a look at eBay for the price enquiries. If you're dedicated you can always look for a game store or even get a contact in Japan (poor them...)

As for the systems, it's your usual PAL = UK/most of Europe deal. America and Japan run on NTSC (byproduct of the war...the ministry of communication/propaganda/whathaveyou insisted the Japanese update everything to NTSC). Lots of Chinese seem to have NTSC sets, too, as evidenced by the iQue Player being sold in an NTSC version.

You should be able to pic up a SFC and leads pretty chaep on ebay, but don't expect it to be in mint condition! and nice! and new, they go for alittle more as do the boxed SFC's.

I wouldn't even bother getting a Super Famicom, unless you are a completist. SFC games play in a regular US snes by removing the plastic tabs that are located in the game slot.

Another point, the European version is called the Super NES, just like in the US.

I have an SFC only because I think it looks cooler than the US SNES. It works flawlessly on my US TV btw and my loose SFC cost me about $40 shipped with 1 game, 1 controller and a power supply from a Canadian seller.

Here's a couple things to keep in mind if you are getting an SFC. The SFC controller cords are very very short. However, I just swapped the cord from an SNES controller. A very simple procedure.

Speaking of controllers, I personally like the SFC controller because all the top bottons are rounded (convex) unlike the US SNES buttons which are slightly concave. Its a *feel* thing I guess.

Lastly, I HAD to buy a converter to play US games in my SFC. not a big deal but just an extra expense, and truth is I bought 3 (NIB Honey Bees) and I'm willing to part with one for the right trade. 8-)

Lastly if you should buy an SFC and it doesn't come with a power supply, A US NES power supply will work BUT a US SNES power supply won't work because the SNES plug to the console is to big.

Ya the prices on ebay r a bit much right now...amy of them cost about $80 to ship....i want one too because it looks nice and I do not want to go through any trouble of removing anything from my snes at the moment.

Actually Evan it's called the Super Nintendo in the UK or just snes (like in the US) for short!, it was never called the Super Nes. ;)

But wouldn't this potentially fry the SFC, since Japan's power outputs at 100V (to our 110V)?
