Anyone who says no PC games are collectable have'nt looked at the right games. Take this one, for example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8128619443&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I'm forever kicking myself for passing up this game when it was released at my local EB for $40. :o

Hey damn, that got me looking at what the Quest for Glory collection collecting dust on the shelf behind me might be worth. Not bad! I think I'm going to list this sucker.

Yes, that's another collection that goes for nice money. The collections, remakes, add-on's, and really old complete games (anything from Infocom or Orgin, for example) do really well.

I loved the Wing Commander games from way back when. My favorite is part 2. I tried to snag it off EBay a couple of times now but always got outbidded.

Well at least the price has come down some now. A year or so ago they were selling in the $250.00 dollar range.

Also, games by companies now defunct are in high demand. Take for instance the Heroes of Might and Magic series by 3DO. I just sold a copy of HOMM IV for $75, and have seen it go as high as $100.

also (reminded by your avatar) Neverhood sells quite well.
I've seen complete copies fetch $150+ and incomplete ones hit $80!

Yeah there is a market for some pc games. Last year I sold my FFVII for 40 bucks (discs only) and I sold monkey island 1 & 2 and day of the tentacle, for 25 each. Mind you I paid 10 for the ff and got the other 2 for free. Lucasarts, ultima, lsl, classic stuff usually can get good money especially if complete

Well, thanks to ScummVM, the Lucasarts stuff is still playable, so I can see that.

Yeah, didn't somebody from this board sell a unopened Maniac Mansion for the area of about $100-150?

I had a very sure premonition that you were talking about "Kilrathi Saga" before I even clicked on your link. I have been following auctions of this game for years.. but I can NEVER find a complete box set that sells for less than $100 (sometimes.. MUCH higher than that).. so I can't bring myself to pay that kind of money for a PC game.

Having said that.. I actually own WAY more PC games than I do vid games (been collecting them for years) and indeed.. some are "rarities".. but very few. The number of PC games that regularly fetch over a hundred bucks on eBay.. I can count on one hand (maybe two).

The reason Kilrathi Saga commands such a high price was because Origin tweaked the earlier DOS games to supposedly run in W95 (much like the X-Com trilogy set); but it barely ran and required patches galore anyway (once again.. much like the X-Com set). It's the only way to get all three of the first games complete.. in one set/install.

My own personal pride is a mint copy of Battletech Powerhits CD version.. much rarer than the 3.5" boxed version. I bought it brand new years ago at a local discount store for 10 bucks as I remember. It contains the first three Mechwarrior games (Crescent Hawk's Inception; Crescent Hawk's Revenge AND Mechwarrior I) including a demo of a never released build of Mechwarrior II on it. The manual for all three games has been compiled together and is OVER 500 pages! (Hard to believe old DOS games could be so complex.). I saw a guy snatch up a boxed floppy set of this compilation (3.5" floppies) the other day with a BIN price of $6 within an hour or so after it was listed. He KNEW what he was buying.. for sure. Funny thing is.. you can sometimes pick this game up for just a few bucks.. but the CD version can go for anywhere between $20 to $125.. depending on whether the seller knows what they have or not.. and prices accordingly(which they usually don't).

BTW.. just FYI.. I sometimes drag out my collection and sell a few DOS-based CD games whenever I'm strapped for cash (Can't bring myself to sell my video games).

In the past.. some of my highest sellers were Noctropolis (complete w/the comic book, boxed) for $75. THe CD version of the original System Shock (Origin, non "Hits" version w/ a guide book) for $100; and BloodNet for around $30 as I recall. Also the Infocom collections (Adventure, Mystery, SCI-FI, etc.) text-based games got me a pretty penny as well.

I sold the X-Com Trilogy CD for $50 on ebay last year. Not a bad little profit on it, considering that I only paid $10 for it about a year or so before that.

Hey, that clears up that issue for me! I've gotta go looking for that one :)

Those Crescent Hawks games rock the world, yes they do. Plus Revenge was one of the first RTS games (http://www.mobygames.com/game/view_review/reviewerId,489/gameId,233/platformId,2/), apparently predating even Herzog Zwei!

PC games at high prices. I know a thing about that. I dare anyone to find a complete and mint US version of Orion Burger for the PC. I have a copy and paid well over $200 for it.

Games such as the one above as well as 3 Skulls of the Toltecs, Duckman, and Day of the Tentacle in the triangular box does fetch a pretty penny on ebay.

Yeah you think passing it up at $40 is bad I passed one up at $1 complete. Thought pfftt PC games aren't worth shit; Boy was I wrong. I also passed a $5 32X Spiderman w/ manual. Same day!!! DOH!!!
