View Full Version : Chrono Trigger question - who should I bring to Magus' lair?

Alright, I'm playing through Chrono Trigger on my SNES. Next stop: Magus' lair. Well, that cave and then Magus' lair. But you get the point. Anyways, Chrono and Frog are mandatory. Who else should I bring? I've heard Marle would be a good healer and has a nice double tech with Frog that could be helpful if I go somewhere beforehand and earn some tech points. I've also heard Robo is a good choice.
This is my second time playing through the game. I played through it once about five years ago and I think I brought along Lucca that time around.
Anyways, I'm wondering - who would you recommend?

I usually take Robo, because he is the best at healing. Barring that, some enemies are weak against fire, making Lucca a good choice.

I think when I went through it I took Robo and Marle along with Chrono and Frog
My party was Crono, Frog, and Marle. Frog and Marle's Ice Water double tech takes care of almost any monster in the castle, except for the ones that either absorb magic or absorb water magic.

In that order, because I have a weird problem where if I'm playing a 3-person RPG, the "smallest" character has to be in the middle.

Chrono-Marle-Frog. Dunno why I always used Marle, guess because of the healing. Then after that I think the best combo is Chrono-Marle-Lucca. Antipode 3 GO!

Magus' palace isn't very hard. Take whichever character you like best.

Magus' Castle + AnyElementSpell 2 = Joy.
When you fight Magus, and he keeps changing his elemental weakness, are Ice and Water counted as the same element? I mention this because if they are, then it would be in your best interest to form a party so that you have as many elements as possible. If I recall correctly, Robo's laser attacks are counted as Dark elemental.

Definitely bring Crono, Marle, and Frog. Ice water and glacier will totally PWN all the regullar enemies. Trust me, I've played throught this game more times than you can comprehend, and It's my all time favorite game. There's a good chance I know what I'm talking about! LOL
