The SNES version of Out of This World was recently under discussion at the ol' water cooler and it got me wondering:
What's everyone think of this game? :)

Classic, but not as good as the Amiga original ;)

Great story and graphics (even now, I say, since it had a very distinctive 'style' to it) but terrible control and the trial by error gameplay keeps it down the list of Sausage Selects. I hated how Heart of the Alien ended btw.

I'm not speaking about the SNES version specifically (are we voting for the SNES version btw...or just the game no matter what platform?), but I think it is one of those titles that is highly underrated (if someone says 'pffft...just play Flashback' I'll ram my fist into my monitor). I've ranted at great lengths before about this game, so I won't go off on it here again. :)
I will say, however, it is by far one of the best early examples of character/relationship development through game play (although it happens only in key areas). For a game that is noted for some bad ass early cut scenes, Eric Chahi didn't fall into the trap of over using them to form a small bond between the two main characters.
Sorry. I started ranting again. I am really stopping now. :D

I think it's just the snes platform (Out of this world) the poll and thread are on!
Nice game and the whole trial an error is both good n' bad.. after awhile it can get to the point where you start throwing the controller at the TV LOL

Bought it when it came out (as I was starving for any new snes title). Played it, finished it. But trust me.. if you finished the game then you HAVE played each scene multiple friggin times. So zero replay value.. once beaten :P Only good for the initial play and completion.

Loved this game, one of the first I bought for the SNES. As a matter of fact was just playing it the other day. :)

We had ordered a video of the the CGE that year... They sorted all the game acording to system and OOTW was in the middle of the SNES section. All of us thought it was a mistake, that they had slipped a TurboGrafix CD game in to it by accident.
It was a huge departure from the games that came before it. Visually stunning..
All you cell shading fanboys listen up... this is where it all began...

I own the SNES version but I've never beaten it. I like the game somewhat, but it can become very frustrating pretty quickly. Repetition and memorization are required to finish this one.
Still though, not a bad game at all.

I love it, but I always wanted to play it's sequel on Sega CD "Heart of an Alien" contains part 2 and 1 as well

I played the game when I was younger, and enjoyed the graphics. The actual gameplay was a bit too challenging for me at the time.

I used to think that the first one was hard, but when I got my hands on this one, DAMN!!! Took me forever just to figure how to pass the first few screens. O_O

Damned awesome game, this one is. This one challenged me for quite a bit, and any game that can do that warrants respect. Long ago, I always used to be stuck in that damned prison. Then there came a time when I got stuck in the damned caverns. I managed to beat it, and looking back on it, it was a grand action/adventure title that, in my opinion, ruled more than Prince of Persia. Though, against Flashback... now, that I'm not sure of.

You know, as much as people seem to rave over Flashback.. I loved Blackthorn a whole helluva lot more...

I liked the SNES OOTW quite a bit. I also liked the Genesis version, and from what I played of HotA, I liked that quite a bit too (too bad the ending blew goats).
Flashback's got OOTW and HotA beat by a mile, though.
