Anybody else planning to import these? Looks like some pretty good stuff!

Vol 1: Strikers 1945 I & Strikers 1945 II
Vol 2: Sengoku Ace & Sengoku Blade
Vol 3: Sol Divide & Dragon Blaze

Vol 1 is now available at Lik-Sang. Vol 2 & 3 are due by the end of the year.

Volume 2 is due out in December, and will apparently be playable at the TGS next weekend. Vol 3 is out next year.

I am so saving up all my Christmas money for these, and I don't even own a PS2 yet! You know of any other good shmups for PS2, import or otherwise? I'm planning to get one sooner or later, and maybe even a Japanese system, so I don't wanna miss any of the shmups. But I only know of Silpheed here in the US, R-Type Final & Gradius V, 'cause I haven't really kept up with PS2.

The PS2 has some sweet-daddy Shmups out.

ESPGaluda and DoDonpachi DOJ are both packed with Cave Goodness.

Are those remakes or reprints? Cause honestly...I didn't like most of those games. Notably...Sengoku Blade and Sol Divide. I'd get the 1945 pack, but weren't those released for the Saturn? I have one of em for the PSX too.

The only ones that never appeared on the Saturn never appeared on any console, as far as I know. Sengoku Ace and Dragon Blaze. I assume the rest are all reprints. But Sengoku Blade is pretty expensive now, so a reprint on any system is most welcome. Now if we could just get reprints of all the other great shmups that were never ported or most people can't afford anymore. Somebody really needs to reprint a shitload of shmups for me!

Battle Garegga & Battle Bakraid, Radiant Silvergun & Ikaruga, Gun Frontier & Metal Black, Batsugun & Gekirindan, Shienryu & Soukyugurentai, Blast Wind & Hyper Duel, Skull Fang & Wolf Fang, The list goes on and on and on and on...

I'd give anything for another chance to own all those games again, instead of missing almost all of them like an idiot, when they were all ported to the Saturn. I only have Blast Wind, Sol Divide, and Strikers I & II out of all those. And guess who doesn't have nearly enough money to pay triple digits for a USED copy of all those games now? That's right, I'm just a poor shmupper. Same reason I missed so many the first time, too many at one time, and not enough dough for all of them. By the time I had the money for them, it was too late, they had all gone sky high and I still couldn't afford to get them all.

Radiant Silvergun and Hyper Duel are the only two games that cost more used than they did new when they came out. Gun Frontier is about the same, Gekiridan is pretty cheap, and the rest are about half price.

Have you done any shopping for them lately? Sengoku Blade is triple digits. Battle Garegga tends to get way up there now too, and so does Batsugun. Most of the others never even show up, so I don't now about all those, but when they do show up it's usually on ebay, and you know what that means. I know there are some good deals out there, but usually only for used copies that tend to be missing the spine card and a have few scratches on the disk. If you want absolutely mint, it's usually gonna cost you a pretty penny for it. And I'm real picky about that kinda stuff. I'd rather pay through the nose for a sealed copy, just so I can open it, than to buy a used one. But in the case of Saturn shmups, I don't have much choice anymore. It's used or nothing. So I dunno, maybe I'll save up and get a few more someday, but right now I just don't have the money for it. And I'm still kicking myself over Hyper Duel.

FYI, volume one of this (the 1945 games) are a budget release in the UK. I dunno why they won't bring it stateside, but if you have the means to play PAL games, you might look to that as a much cheaper alternative to the Japanese version.

And yeah, Garegga is pretty damn expensive. I think I paid $70 for my copy, but I've seen it going for more than that.

I'm mainly pricing in Japan, BUT...

Just sold one for $60 (in the Buy & Sell Forum here) and only ahd two people interested.

I've not looked at other stuff in dollars in a while, but the skew between Japan and the west is much smaller now than it used to be. You should only be paying 15-20% more in the west, than in Japan. You just might have to wait a a while for a good deal.
