Anyone know when this game is officially coming out? EB says 9/21, the ads say 9/24 and the magazines say the end of October.

Another game I'd like to hear about from the gang here, if anyone's gotten it.

It's been described as an X-Men RPG in the Baldur's Gate tradition. I like the sound of that. So is it any good?

I'm curious to know about the game also.

From the preview movie they had with Spiderman 2 (narrated by Patrick Steward, no less!) it looked like a decent game.

Looks good, almost like they took the Heroclix game and made a computer (or is it console...I'm out of it here) game out of it...Dare I say I'll probably be checking this one out soon :)

It's almost lawsuit-ingly in the Baldur's Gate tradition. Same overhead perspective, same small auto-map, same feel to combat. 15 controllable X-Men in all, one to four players at once. Very few real puzzles. Decent storyline that borrows bits and pieces from the various X-Men comic continuities (costumes of Ultimate, backstories of Uncanny). 20-25 hours of gameplay, including lots of the Danger Room scenarios. Fair graphics and sound. A good game, but a great X-Men title. I'm a little burned out on Baldur's Gate and its variants (I also reviewed The Bard's Tale this month), so if you're not, consider my opinion a rave. :)

Spot on, Zach!

I finished the game yesterday. Just about 20 hours though I didn't do all of the Danger Room events, and didn't go crazy looking for all the comic books, sketch art, etc. I just played the game through. I did find an area (in the Astral Plane, just before Xavier becomes the Gladiator) where you could pretty much smash monsters endlessly, racking up as much cash and experience as you need - that was the only design flaw I found but I exploited it, made that last quarter of the game extremely easy.

I really did enjoy it, and I agree it's a "good" game but a "great" X-Man game.

I'm not burned out on Baldur's Gate variants just yet. I kinda like that it's being used the way it is, each of these games feels like a module to that game.

Awesome! I was under the impression this was a turn-based RPG, but seeing as how I loved BG:DA and some of it's ilk, I'll definitely have to give this a go....when it drops in price!

I love this game but, I don't like the co-op mode. If you have four people playing it is very annoying when you have to play a single player only mission. It is just boring for everyone else playing as they have to wait for you to finish.

Reviving an older thread here. I picked up the xbox version of this game a couple of days ago at the TRU sale and I'm digging it. Does finishing all the Danger Room scenarios unlock anything, or is more just to gain experience and level-ups?
