I just receiced the latest issue of Game Informer yesterday and the cover story is about the new upcoming Elder Scrolls 4 game called Obvivion. All I got to say is f*cking Wow :O
The graphics are freaking amazing. There's a photo of a forest on page 54 which alone makes me want to play the game.
I've been a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series since Arena came out years ago on the PC and the gameplay has always been as strong as the graphics. If its anything close for this game its going to be an amazing game.
Unfortunately its not slated to be released until Winter of 2005 and is planned for the Xbox 2, PS2 and PC.

LoL, I just received this today and kind of disregarded the cover. Wow, I may have just wet my pants. Defenitely one of my favorite rpg series ever. Arena and especially Daggerfall were gold. When I first played Morrowind I absolutely HATED it because it wasn't like daggerfall, but I quickly learned that was a good thing, and became damn obsessed with that game.
Wow, after checking out those screenshots, I reject the "may" comment. Looks electrifying.

I like the open-endedness of it, but in Morrowind I've never been able to get someone to tell me whether or not the plants will eventually grow back if I harvest them and use them for alchemy. That and every guard always says "KEEP MOVING" in this deadpan voice that gets annoying when 4 or 5 of them say it all at once.
I dunno, I guess I'm more of a fan of something like KOTOR or something.

They do. 8-)

That changes depending on your relationship with each faction.
I have to say that I'm extremely hyped about Elder Scrolls IV. Although I never owned Arena (recently DLed it when Bethesda offered it for FREE), I really enjoyed both Daggerfall and Morrowind (original and Game of the Year). I'm actually more excited about this than I am Final Fantasy XII, which should seem incomprehensible to anyone that notices my board username/current avatar/custom title. :)

Woot~!
ok, NOW I'm finally going to have to get around to upgrading my damn computer. I put it off for too long, and this will be the straw that broke the camel's back!
What I've seen of this game looks so awesome, I can't wait for it!... I would expect something along the lines of LATE 2005, like they said, if 2005 at all. oh well. maybe I'll be able to hold out until then... @_@

Yes, ingredients grow back, and we should all consider ourselves lucky if it hits winter of 2005. Morrowind took 5 years to make.

THANK THE LORD ABOVE! :D
I LOVED Morrowind. I was a little shaky on getting it at first, as I'm not much for PC RPG's, but I finally picked it up.
There went four months of my life. LOL
Between the original game and the expansions, they are NOT kidding when they say you can spend 500 hours on it. :eek 2:
I'd rather have one more expansion for Morrowind, but I'm glad to know they are making a new Elder Scrolls game.
Actually, Morrowind took only 3 years. The original ideas were drawn up in early 98 and then put aside. In 99 they picked them back up again and started working again. A little over three years later, in the summer of 2002, Morrowind came out for PC. XBox version was out by the end of the year. Tribunal and Bloodmoon came out for the PC in 2003, and a Game of the Year Edition with the expansions for XBox later that year.

Ugh, yes.
Supposedly the plants grow back...takes too damned long if that's the case, though.
As a result I ended up stuck with half-minute load times 'cuz I'd ransacked EVERYBODY's homes. Ouch.

The best part of morrowind was having every artifact in the game, using 100% chemleon effect and then slaying people with Daedric arrows using Auriel's Bow.
People DIED.
Or casting a spell that caued poison, max fire damage, max ice damage, max lightning damage, armor destruct, fatigue, health drain AND strength damage with a 50 foot radius by touch. Walk up to enemy.....touch with palm of hand.......FUCKING DEATH. Whole room cleared ;D. It's also fun to have a incredibly powerful jump and speed spell and jump from one side of the world to the other. Although, the constant load times are PAIN!! Flying through air......loading.......flying.......loading.....ov er the river....loading....
Ahhhh...the wonders of 100 level alchemy and tons of intelligence potions.

Yes, I still have my "edoscuro rocketjump" spell :D
Plus the XBox version of the game let you keep "temporary" weapon stats bonuses permanently, by pressing two buttons...I think it was if one pressed both switch buttons at once. Do that with a weapon that's got a strength bonus and you can get as much strength as you like.
It gets sort of obscene when you're skating along ceilings and taking damage when you hit the ground off every jump, though :P

Okay, now I'm trembling with anticipation.
I upgraded my pc for Morrowind, looks like I'll be doing it for Oblivion. Of course, when I upgraded it for Morrowind, I didn't get it *quite* there. What I'll probably do is upgrade for Oblivion and do Morrowind with decent frame rates.
Hey, how are the XBox version? Does it run silky smoth on the Xbox? I would expect they really tweaked it to look good and run well, but I've never seen the Xbox version.

No.
Stay with what you've got.
