I recently purchased a 3DO from a thrift store. The unit has some minor damage. If you're looking at the front side, the top plate on the left side is pulling apart from the bottom part. The unit plays fine. I can boot up games with no problems. The problem I'm having is that the controller I have doesn't seem to be working. I have a Panasonic FZ-1 unit, but the controller is a Goldstar. I don't know if the controllers can be interchanged. If it isn't the controller itself, what other problems could there be and how could I attempt to remedy them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

3DO controllers are pretty much unversal. I've used Panasonic and a 3rd party controller on my Goldstar 3DO as well as the Goldstar's own controller with no problems.

I'll just say this: Never use a Goldstar controller on a Panasonic 3DO. It will fry the controller as you came to notice (if it wasn't already dead).
Any other combination seems to work fine. :o

Just an update. I went out and bought a Panasonic controller and it works fine. So either the controller I bought was crap (despite the fact that it looked in mint shape), or Goldstars really don't work in Panasonic 3DO's. Thanks for the help everyone.
