That would be sort of freaky, since "Sony" is supposed to be similar to "Sonny." O:

That thing makes the XBox look even bigger. LOL

Oh, and on a side note, I hope Nintendo never makes a model 2 Gamecube. That little cube is the best-looking console ever designed, imo.

I know, I own a lot of them. Not "DangerBoy" lot, but a lot for me.

You know, that's like, the third time across 2 web-sites I've seen that phrase. I'm rather worried and yet pleasantly pleased that I have become a catch phrase. :D

And I agree: The GC is the cutest damn modern console out there.

If it's not any cheaper, what the hell is the point? :/ I want a CHEAPER PS2, not a smaller one.

I'd say cheaper for them to make, more profit.

I'll have to hold it in my hands to actually have a real opinion on the thing. but those images up around the net are pretty cool looking. I dont know if I'll jummp to buy one upon release - my money is either going to the DS or PSP - but I will get one sooner or later. I really like the idea of downsizing the system. Brought a hell of a lot of sales in for the PSone (which I think looks dope). I do wish that they made the new PStwo a little bit cuter, but it still looks cool.

WOW... um... I retract anything bad I said about the PStwo... um... yeah! The ONE criteria I set... flipper! **moogle dance**
I assumed (usually a bad idea) that the mini looking alot like the old unit it would be a tray loader, but DAMN! And sitting on top of the PSone in that one pic... I'm floored... I'm impressed... I'm... sold... **drool**

Using a spring-loaded lid should cut costs considerably as will an generic external PSU.
Too bad that although it's smaller, it won't fit my console shelf as there's no way to stack a NES or any other console on top of it. What was Sony thinking? Pff.

At least it's easier to take care of those DREs now. LOL

I'm trying to squeeze a few more months out of my dying PS - getting this would be nice timing.

Last night somebody brought up an interesting point. Having the network stuff built-in means that the PSTwo really *is* selling for less, after all.

For the HDD - will a plug-in HDD connect to the unit via that USB? Will it be USB2?

So has anybody heard of an LCD screen being created for it?

I never thought I'd buy a PSone, but I did (eventually), as well as a battery, car adaptor, and an LCD screen. Having a portable PSone has been a *lot* of fun (especially during the big blackout of '03). In fact I'm using the LCD screen right now, at work, to watch movies on.

There's something about remodeled consoles that just totally appeals to me...

Now THAT is a tantalizing possibility! I don't like the PSOne, but the LCD screen for it looks good (though it's perhaps a dark comment on Sony's work nowadays that the best LCD screen around isn't the first party one). A LCD screen styled to fit the PSTwo would be great! However, as I don't do portable gaming and LCD screens for this market are likely to be far behind the top-of-the-line models, I'd have to take a pass for a long time.

Having passed the summer vacation season, I've packed away my PSone and its screen for a while in favor of the PS2 ($150 Network Pack!) that I bought not long ago.

So, am I really amazed by the new PStwo? Well, it does have the flip-top, which is more reliable. And it's smaller, but I've got my PS2 mounted vertically anyway which makes that a moot point. I have also never ever needed to invest in a Multi-Tap for any reason.

Which leaves imports -- and since I don't delve into that realm, I'm not feeling the urge to trade up (down?) for the new model.

Verdict: The PStwo is nice-looking, and will no doubt sell well (assuming they do actually hit the vaunted $100 price point). But I don't really care that much.

I really like the design, but can i still use the ps2 harddrive with it and all that good stuff? If it doesnt, im gonna have to wait til' the price drops ALOT before i put my money down for one.

no more FFXI & RE: Outbreak =POh, Info is up. There IS no Support. Period. There will be no support for the HDD. It's like the 64DD, it will not get any more support at all. It was too little too late. Good for only one game. A martyr to bad ideas.. or something.

I just want one because it's cool looking and tiny. It'll replace my PSX and if the DVD technology is anything liek the PS2's DVD player circuitry, I can finally watch my Galaxy Quest DVD without having to borrow the Apex.

That's all the more reason for me to get one. To me, that's $50 for a DVD player, $100 for a game system. Sure I'd like to wait for the price to drop, but that could be forever. (Any rumors going around? I will be buying at the beginning of the month. I hope there's no rumor of a price drop before Christmas.)

I guess I'm one of the few that thinks this thing looks great...it's got a fliptop and hardly any bigger than the psone. I don't think the 'strip' looks bad at all, i kinda like it, nice and subtle. any word on the official release date?

i don't care much for the hard drive anyways...what uses it? final fantasy 25? ... anything else? i can just play final fantasy on my pc if i actually wanted to.
i still need me a ps2...but can't see spending more than $100.

Recommended - really, should be a requirement - for Resident Evil Outbreak, and useful for saving a whole game to disc via that special program. Sounds good to me!

It's sad there aren't more good uses for it.

I'm still waiting to see if this won't cause some developers like SquareEnix to start to plan their abandonment of the platform that abandoned them. Would be just.

I think the design is great, I would really like to get one. But sadly im on a budget right now, and my $150 dollars is going towards my DS.
