What the hell is with the prices of RE 2 and RE 3 for the gamecube? I mean, the movie just came out, but don't people just realize that they aren't even upgrades over the PS1 versions? I was hoping to find cheap copies to play with my Wavebird (so I don't pull the PS2 off the shelf during scary scenes :embarrassed: ), but now it looks like I'm out of luck.

I'll assume those games are hard to find, since I've never seen them in stores after the first week or so they were released. Could be why the price is so high.

Also, do you have a certain auction(s) you are referring to...if so, please post a link. If not then this would be more suited for the general video game forum and will be moved there.

It's easier to post a link to the item(s) in question, even searches, in YMEI when you want to discuss the obsurdity of the situation. People are less likely to discuss when they have to go looking for the stuff. Here:

It is a pretty rare set of games. I read in an article on IGN or something that the re-releases on the gamecube sold less than 50,000 copies each.

Geez, about a month ago I got a copy of RE 2 for $29.99 direct from capcom.com to complete my Gamecube RE set.

I checked & they're out now. I guess I should've ordered more than one. :frustrated:

I was looking to see if I could find them cheap when I was games shopping in the US with QoF last month, but nowhere really had them. And if they did, they were still prices fairly high. Maybe this is why? Just looking to get them at a reasonable price to complete the US set (as I have 0,1 and CVRX loose here and will be getting 4 in January).

You just cant stay away from being a mod. :P

Yea that's crazy high. Time to call up all the local gamestops.
So how many of each game were made?

Crap. Looks like I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for these, just like I do with Rez. I have at least five gamestops within 1 10 mile radius of my house, one of them must have these games!! Hopefully I'll be able to buy two copies of each.

I've got Resident Evil 2 on my Nintendo 64. It's better with extra games and better controls. I recommend you do the same.

I actually just found a complete rental copy of RE2 for GC for cheap, the game does have a rental sticker on the disc/manual though. The disc one is possible to get off, I've done it numerous times on their DC/Xbox/GC games, but for the sticker on the manual..impossible I swear.

*Just saw Ebay prices..holy crap, might have to go pick that game up today :P*

Ok a GameStop about 10 minutes away from my house has Resident Evil 2. The only thing is it doesn't have the manual... is it worth picking up? I want a complete one but im wondering if the one without a manual will fetch good money to help pay for a complete one. :o

I rode my bike so very very fast on the streets of Madison to snag that copy of RE2, but when I got there, it was gone.

It was there yesterday, and in less than 24 hours it is gone. What luck.

Hmmm.. I called a gamestop near me and they had it but It was disc only, not to mention $30. I don't think that's worth it.

From what I heard, the GCN versions of RE2 and RE3 are simply ports of the original PS1 games with not extras whatsoever, besides the fact that they're utilizing the 128-Bit GCN technology.

IMHO, the Dreamcast versions are way better, considering the fact the the DC version of RE2 has unlockable 'goodies' like concept artwork and the CGI movie player.

The DC version of RE3 lets the player start the game having the choice of what you want Jill to wear, without having to unlock them in the game.

I passed on the GCN versions and I'm still going to pass on them because I don't really need them.

Disc only? Why would they even bother taking that in as a trade? :hmm:

AH, FUCK! I saw this same deal but didn't buy it then, now there out.
And yes, RE2 + 3 are VERY hard to find. I still need those two to complete my set for the GC.

They're Gamestop. It's notoriously known that a complete copy of a game means as much to them as a loose one. LOL

It used to be worse - another thing they're notoriously known for is throwing out the boxes and manuals to cart-based games just to save space.

I just picked up a complete RE2 for N64 a few days ago for $2.50. So that's superior to the GC version? Nice to know. :)

You can add Code Veronica to the list too. I saw a used copy at Gamestop today for $34.99. good thing I bought mine new at Best Buy a while back for $19.99.
