Hey, where'd you get that? That coin-op show isn't going on in St. Charles now, is it?

set me back 500, a little more than i wanted to pay, but well worth it since if there was one coin op i could get, it would be a dedicated mk2 cab. i got it off ebay, so i picked it up in indiana this morning. the thing was a bitch to move, i sliced my thumb open carrying it up the stairs, but it was well worth it once i plugged it in at my house and played a few rounds.
my next coin op will definately be of the street fighter variety. that wont be for a while though.
I am trying to weasle my parents into getting me a Coin-op, so wish me luck! :P
Anywho, didn't you say you are going to put a chip in it so you can play MK and MK3 on it as well?
Also, Butta told me there was some sort of card in it that allowed you to fight randomly against any boss or hidden character.

I has 60 Classic coin-ops last year and sold them all due to storage constraints and the fact that I didn't really care for the older games that much. Had stuff like Tron, DK, DK3, Mario Bros, Joust, Moon Patrol, Time Pilot, etc etc. I can say without a doubt that they're more hassle than they're worth IMO, cause they have a tendency to break down a lot, even when well cared for. There are a couple coin ops I'd kinda like to own, but NOT many. Notably, I'd like to have a working Neo Geo MVS system, but I'm in NO hurry for one.

I bought a Tiger-Heli coin op as a late teen about ten years ago. After a couple days of playing it a lot, it went in the garage to collect dust. A friend of mine bought Street FIghter II and it had a similar fate. If it would have been Star Wars or one of the great classics ($$$), I might have gotten more value out of it. Even if it wasn't tuned on a lot a Star Wars cab would look cool in the house.
About a year ago I built a MAME cab from a Sega Spider-man cabinet. Due mostly to a VGA 27" monitor it set me back around $1,000 plus a computer that I already owned. I bought the parts over time and started with a Hanaho Hotrod SE joystick. The monitor was $500 (ouch). I get a lot more use out of this cab and boot it up at least once per week. It's a huge hit whenever friends or nephews come over.

Top buy!
Now, being as my girlfriend (well, ex-girlfriend now) and I split up recently, I have some "comfort money" that was budgeted for her Xmas present. Might take a pop round the independent shops, see if I can pick me up some cheap retro stuff :D
Last games I bought were Sega Worldwide Soccer 97 and International Victory Goal on the Saturn. 20 English pence each.
Even though they're common as buggery, I'm not sniffing for 20p. Boxed, Manuals and all!

NICE! I have always wanted a SFIIChampion/turbo cabby but then I figure if I do that then i'm going to want a VF2, and a MKII, then... my house is full!

Coin-ops make great Christmas presents. Unfortunately, I can't convince my wife or parents of this. Here's my presents to myself this year:

Butta, great buy!!! I wish I could get a coin-up (no money, no space...); I'd go either for a classic like Spy Hunter or Moon Patrol or Defender, or for the 20th anniversary Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga cabinet (2 classics in one!).

I'd love to get a Crystal Castles or Joust, but I'm afraid the machines would tax my apartment's power supply. :o Plus, moving it upstairs will be tough to do without the landlord's help, and then he and his kids would want to play it all day. x_x
I'm eyeing a Shinobi one.. hope it works out. :-)

Cool man. I opted for something a little easier to move this year- Steel Battalion is my gift to myself.
