I came home last night, ate, filed my preliminary report, played with my dog and my cats, and promptly passed out in the floor of the living room. Literally.

Anyway, I came to a little whle ago and sorted through my disks and disks of pics...and discovered that I snapped something like 150 shots at OKGE! X_x My sincere apologies to Kent, who manned the PDF table with me - I had no idea I'd left him stranded back there so much. But there was so much to see...

Avast, ye mateys! Pirate Captain Flack shows off his warez!...erm...wares. LOL GREAT setup - the most distinctive display at the whole show by miles.

DP's own Flack and AltairBoy.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/brad.jpg
Brad Prillwitz, aka Purenergy. Brad had a SWEET Vectrex setup with one of the coolest controllers I've ever seen. I think someone had to drag me away from it. And then pry the controller out of my hands. I want a Vectrex now. LOL

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/brian.jpg
Brian Green, aka icbrkr, demonstrated for me the gleefully distrurbing "Torture Mode" of Creatures on the C64. He enjoys this far too much!

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/messbrad.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/messiah.jpg
Brad and Carrie Strahle (PlayMessiah and DeliverMessiah, respectively) of Messiah, makers of some very slick controls - I'm sure neither they nor their product need any introduction by now. But what's up with the following pic?

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/raffle.jpg
What the hell's wrong with people? Man, the odds were VERY good of walking away with the raffled-off Messiah proto controllers at OKGE! LOL DP forum member Smiling Jack took home the loot.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/jesse.jpg
Jesse Hardesty, aka Crossbow, sweats the details and announces another hourly prize drawing.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/arcade1.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/arcade2.jpg
The OKGE arcade: all working. Suh-WEET. I haven't played Battlezone in years. Or Gorf! And where else can you spot Carrot Top playing a Neo Geo cab? LOL

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/gorf.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/gorfzoom.jpg
This Gorf cab was beautiful. And it kicked my ass in sixteen distinctly different directions simultaneously. And speaking of beautiful coin-ops:

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/joust1.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/joust2.jpg
A super-duper-rare Joust cocktail for ONLY $1,400. I tried to trade the owner what's left of my soul for it, but he really only wanted cash.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/fatman.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/fatman1.jpg
Guests expected: the Fat Man! I gotta say, the nifty bluesy jam session, which wandered through everything from Pipeline to Secret Agent Man to Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds to - my favorite - Word Up (!!)...this was some world class entertainment by some excellent musicians. Worth the price of admission alone.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/dixon.jpg
Guests unexpected: Larry Dixon, formerly of Origin Systems, graces the PDF table with a visit! My partner-in-crime Kent got his copy of Wing Commander II autographed by both Larry and the Fat Man - and hastily withdrew it from his otherwise enormously successful buck-a-game PC DOS game sale. Methinks he's a-gonna keep it now.

Kent mans the PDF table.

Displaying and playing the early history of video gaming at the PDF table.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/trontoys.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/tronkubs.jpg
There were treats for Tron fans aplenty at the PDF table this year - and take a look at the pic on the left. The lighting was absolutely perfect for that particular display. :D Sorry, just had to brag!

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/qberts.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/moretoys.jpg
Games and toys go hand-in-hand in PDFsville.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/game-cds.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/cclimber.jpg
Vintage game soundtracks and remixes from Japan on display, and Crazy Climber set up to play - with two joysticks, the way God intended us to play Crazy Climber. LOL

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/posters.jpg
Classic gaming and sci-fi collide at the PDF table: lots of people commented on the Doctor Who pinball backglass (and one guy offered me a heap of cash for it, but I politely declined) and the Sega Star Trek poster. And I brought the Intellivision poster along to add the Fat Man's signature to the proceedings.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/dad&son.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/nextgen2.jpg
The family that plays together stays together. (P.S. What can brown do for you?)

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/pdftable.jpg
Wide shot of the PDF area. Okay, okay, end of brag. I was really proud of our setup this year.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/virtuboy.jpg
Virtual Boy goodness at one of the other tables!

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/peeking.jpg
Another what-the-hell-is-this!? photo: people attending another event peek in from an observation window that I didn't know was there on the second floor! What the hell! Buy a ticket, people! LOL

I know Steve Juon (MegaManFan) took gobs of photos too, as did many others, so let's see 'em folks!

Nothing inspiring yet...

So here's some "text free" pictures:

I just got home and found out my cable modem's been offline all weekend. I'm dialing up at the moment but checking out the pictures is proving to be unbearable. I'm going to call Cox and see if I can't get fixed real quick.

Thanks for the pictures and write up.

? Looks like PDF is ordering his robot army to carry away some arcade games.

Exactly right - that would be the LARP based on the O2 game "War Of Nerves." LOL

Actually, I recognize the sheet in my hand - I was going round and handing out Retrogaming Roundtable member name tags!

What this thread needs is more cowbell. And more pics.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/wornout.jpg
It's kinda hard to tell, but the large red object in this guy's lap was his kid, completely conked out while daddy jammed on the Gamecube.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/siprize2.jpg
I wanted the grand prize from Brad's Space Invaders tournament SO BAD. Brad, where did you get this to begin with? Must...own...one.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/prizes.jpg
Some of the prizes being given away every hour. Hey, for once, I wasn't the only table with a Magnavox Odyssey!

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/joysensr.jpg
I believe this 2600-era gadget was also at Brad's table - I had never seen one in person before.

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/galaga.jpg
Teach your children well. This Galaga cocktail was "booked" the whole day - I didn't get a single game in!

http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/crowd1.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/crowd2.jpg
http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/crowd3.jpg http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/about/okge04/pics/crowd4.jpg
These should give you an idea of what kind of crowd there was at OKGE - a very healthy turnout considering that the bulk of OKGE's traffic is probably walk-ins.

(EDIT: Sorry, forgot I'd already shown the VB pic once.)

The best (or maybe worst) part about wearing a neon blue shirt instead of the apparently obligitory black t-shirt is that you can pick your own fat ass out of every single crowd shot.

I forgot about Mica and his friend, but I can tell you that they were hovering around the OKGE doors at or before the time I was (7pm, the night before), and were holding the door for people and helping carry in stuff just like I was. Cool kids, definitely on the right track. I figured Mica was a little "wanna be" until he came over to my table trying to sell me his Chase the Chuckwagon cart (!).

They're a bit late but here are my pictures.

Here, of course, is where it all took place: The Marriott.

PAC Man! PAC MAN!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v453/ubikuberalles/OKGE-2004/okge10.jpg
Since PDF did an excellent job of showing off his booth, I'll just present a picture of the man himself. PDF had the best looking booth at the show. Despite his embarrassment over the glitch on his DVD video (which most people, including myself, didn't notice) I thought the whole DVD video added class to the show.

Flack's table showcasing Pirating hardware was a great addition to the OKGE show.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v453/ubikuberalles/OKGE-2004/okge13.jpg
Here's just one example of Pirating hardware at Flack's table: a Doctor V64 which burned copies of games into CD's.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v453/ubikuberalles/OKGE-2004/okge15.jpg
And here's the man himself. Flack was very approachable, very friendly and he knew his stuff. People asked him all sorts of questions and he knew the answers. Good work Flack!

Finally, some shots of show goers playing with the systems. That kid in the last shot is destined to be a future NRA member. :)

Thanks for the pix, they all turned out really well!

And by the way, PDF's DVD problem ended up being his player and not the disc, a fact I discovered after watching the DVD on MY DVD player!

:frustrated: LOL

I'm glad SOMEONE got to see it in its entirety at least! :P

Thanks for all the cool pics.
8-)

The only thing that I'm dissapointed in would be the crappy (cheap) TV that I had my Jaguar hooked up to. I forgot to bring a TV for the Jag, and bought that one at a nearby store, which went back for a refund that evening!!
LOL

OKGE was great, and I really appreciate all the effort put into it.
